  1. Thank you for your kind words. It takes my breath away to see just how many leave us in one year's time.
  2. I'll just comment on your roommates. When I do a pre-adoption visit our group requires that all the people in the home be present just to make sure everyone is onboard. You've done your homework to understand greyhounds but they have not. Your job will be to educate them. Roommates and guests will need to be told to not leave doors open. If your yard is fenced make sure the gate is locked. Wishing you well in your quest for a greyhound.
  3. With Gracie's screaming reaction the goat meat was fresh. It was grounded meat and rather bloody. Perhaps she smelled the blood. Normally I wouldn't eat goat meat but the farmers' market vendor raised the goats and also sold goat milk and cheese.
  4. Harvey has been tucked in. Ross has been tucked in.
  5. Kathryn, if you PM me this little girl's name I will add her to the Bridge Angel list.
  6. No more crate. Any chance he caught his tags on the crate?
  7. My Gracie screamed and ran around frantically the first time I cooked goat meat. She screamed like I was killing the goat right in front of her. It was rather bloody though fresh from the farmers' market. It took several hours for her to calm down.
  8. SusanP, do you know if your vet had a digital xray machine? If so, they can just email him the images once you've paid for the service and let him know that they will be coming. If they have an old xray machine they can give you the sheets of film to mail to Dr Couto. Also send any lab results.
  9. Platelet range per Dr Stack 80,000-200,000 Platelet range per Dr Couto 110,000-205,000
  10. Dr Couto left OSU but he is still in business at the link I posted. For you and Zena
  11. http://www.coutovetconsultants.com/for-ownersadopters/ Your vet can send all reports and xrays for review. The fee was $120 and well worth it. He may have better suggestions for pain management.
  12. Our spook Thane cut the webbing in the very center of where all the toes meet. It was a bloody mess and the Evet tried to stitch it. That didn't hold so our regular vet used glue. That worked fine.
  13. Here's another read for you that will either help or further confuse: http://www.greythealth.com/hypothyroid.html
  14. Saying goodbye to the beautiful greyhounds and their friends who left us in January 2015. As you run with the wind send a caress to wipe our tears. Gone but never forgotten. Loved forever. Run free with those who have gone before you. Greet all those that will follow. 15. GiGi and Tivvy have been tucked in.
  16. We may feel alone without them, but with the List it feels like they are not alone.
  17. My Mazy recently had a similar injury. Xrays did not show a fracture but I did not like the quality of them due to the positioning (I'm a human xray tech). I contacted Dr Couto for a review of Mazy's case. Dr Couto shared the images with Dr Dyce at Ohio State who said: There is soft tissue swelling dorsal to the proximal right tarsus. The resolution of the images as received makes interpretation of any subtle orthopedic abnormalities difficult. Soft tissue swelling in this region would be typical for avulsion of the insertion of the cranial tibial muscle. Mazy was treated with Rimadyl for one week, a few Tramadol in the beginning for pain, and limited outside time/area. She still wanted to run, even before the swelling of her hock went down.
  18. Badger and Kenzie have been tucked in. Too often it is extremely difficult to write about our own pets passing and to find fitting words when our friends here have a loss, hence my reason for beginning the Bridge Angels List. This year I consider myself lucky. I only lost PUdge, my mutt girlie, and my mom.
