  1. Did you try Robaxin for the muscle relaxant? It’s also called Methocarbamol....not sure of spelling
  2. Tape covering the puncture wound is a great idea!!
  3. I second a trip to UW Madison. They have helped us tremendously. You can take her to their emergency clinic. Please keep up posted....
  4. Just had Graces titers ran at UW Madison. In the 3 years we’ve had her, we have never vaccinated. She’s exempt from Rabies due to an immune issue. Her Distemper, Parvo and Rabies titers were all very protective and we chose not to vaccinate once again.
  5. Make sure to add Apple Cider Vinegar when making your bone broth as it helps absorb the vitamins
  6. Does anyone use Metoclopramide 5mg tabs for their dog? I have a full bottle and if anyone can use them, please let me know and I can send them to you.
  7. Well, we got our answer regarding Grace (non greyhound) doing the smacking her lips and swallowing hard thing. We went to UWMadison and had a consult. He told us all the possibilities and suggested an Esophogram with a CBC. Blood work was perfect but the Esophogram showed a hiatal hernia and a sphincter at the bottom of the esophagus that didnt close tightly. We watched the video and it was interesting to see food going down and then coming back up. He did say hiatal hernia surgery is no guarantee. Has anyone had success with surgery for it with their dog?? He put her on Prilosec 40mg, Cisapride, and liquid Carafate. Anyone with experience?
  8. Another vote for Robaxin!!! Dylan was the exact same way as Jeter....wouldn’t lay down etc...Took him to Evet and they gave him a shot of it and within 2 hours he was walking and acting completely normal
  9. Tracy, they did do a full tick panel. It’s better today but she is definitely “guarding” her leg. Thanks for your input...
  10. My friends red tick coonhound has been limping on and off for 2 weeks. Its definitely coming from the right rear. Shes a true hunter and runs and chases bunnies all the time. She took Reba to the Vet on Friday and he examined her and said most likely arthritis. No X-rays at that time were taken. Yesterday it got worse after getting loose. Would X-rays be the next move?? She tried Deramaxx but it seems to upset her stomach. I suggested the Pepcid AC before the NSAID. If its a soft tissue injury, that can take awhile to heal correct?? What would X-rays show? Thanks!
  11. It sounds like she may struvite stones in her bladder. An ultrasound may be a good choice...Keep us posted
  12. Jen, no vomiting involved. Just swallowing hard, licking her lips and it makes her so nervous. My heart was breaking watching her. I just read an article that post nasal drip can cause those symptoms????? I gave her a Cerenia and it did nothing....I think it’s reflux that comes up, burns her throat and that begins her episodes. I can’t wait to hear from UW Madison for her appointment
  13. Tracy, 20mgs of Prilosec for 32lb dog? She’s a terrier mix....
  14. Going to UWMadison next week for scope....
  15. Grace non grey has had episodes of GERD by waking up, swallowing hard, licking her lips, hacking etc....Had her on 10mg of Prilosec which seemed to help for a while. Then she had a bad episode this past weekend and ended up in ER. They put her on liquid Carafate. It smells delicious....It was 2am and I forgot to ask ER Dr if this is a medication she can stay on long term....Anyone know??
  16. Kim, who do you take Larry to for Chiropractic treatments?
  17. Daisy and Dylan never got over their sleep aggression. I learned to just leave them be and call out their name if I wanted them to wake up to go potty or whatever. Kids were never allowed near them when they were on the floor on their own dog beds.
