  1. Just a thought...TBD. I would ask to change antibiotic to Doxycycline. Same thing happened to our Daisy and Doxy saved her life.
  2. It's a horrible decision to make, but I've always been one to go with the saying "a day too early is better than a day too late". Whatever you decide will be the right thing. Prayers coming your way.....
  3. Kristy, Found out she cannot have it done laparoscopically. Since having puppies in March, they want to open her to make sure the uterus comes out without a hitch.
  4. Tracy, we are going to see the Vet in Chicago next Wed to see if she is a candidate. Her ultrasound showed normal size uterus and bladder. I really think we are dealing with SIPS. The office already told us it's always a possibility when starting laparoscopic, it may have to turn into open spay.
  5. We are thinking of having Grace's (non grey) spay done laparoscopically. Are there any advantages/disadvantages to doing it that way??

  7. Thanks Fudge, she's wonderful. They do think she has SIPS, which is where the umbilical cords that were attached to the placenta are still leaking blood. I hope I explained that right. She is getting spayed in 3 weeks.
  8. Tracy, Thanks for the advise. I took her in today (first full day we've had her) and she does have a uterine infection. It's not the pyometra, as he did an ultrasound to make absolute sure. Poor baby had her first Pap test. She's on Clavamox....
  9. Tracy, Not yet. She just had her puppies 9 weeks ago and her milk it starting to dry up. She gave birth in an abandoned barn in Kentucky. I'm so glad someone found her and the puppies.
  10. We just adopted a female mix from a rescue group that got her from Kentucky. She was going to be PTS but the rescue got her in time! Anyway, she had 5 puppies at the end of March. Her last puppy left the foster home on Sat. I guess the puppy tried to nurse one last time. We picked Mom up today (Thurs). I noticed a small amount of dark bloody sticky stuff on her vagina. I wiped it with a Kleenex and it was very small. Could this be hormonal or nerves?? I've never had children myself or have had a dog that's had puppies so I am clueless. Any ideas??
  11. Tracy, I didn't know Dr. Couto wasn't a fan of the LS injections. That's very interesting...
  12. I agree with Devotion. If he's suffering, please do the humane thing. We are the only advocate they have.
  13. Aspirin for sure! I'd start with 1/2 of 81mg. It's amazing how well it works. Both Daisy and Dylan had strokes and were on 1/2 aspirin (81) Mg a day for 4yrs. They both passed at 13 1/2 due to age...Dr. Couto recommends it.
  14. She really wouldn't be too far from UW Madison Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Excellent place!!!
  15. Even tho he tested neg forTBD, I would definitely start him on Doxycycline. Daisy tested negative for TBD, and her platelets were bottomed out and they started her on Doxy and the bleeding stopped and she recovered. Just a suggestion...
  16. Not sure if this is the right place to post, but I need your help. We let Dylan run free Thursday at age131/2. He was having trouble getting up from a laying down position. He stopped eating about a week ago. We got small amounts in him, but it was a struggle. He also vomited 3 times last week which was unusual. Wednesday night, he slept in his crate in a different room. He has ALWAYS slept next to me on his bed. Thurs morning he went to get out of the crate and by the time I got to him, he was struggling so bad to get up, I thought he was having a heart attack. He then proceeded to pace and pant for 3 hrs. He would go to a corner of the room and just stand there. He was on Gabapentin, Tramadol, And Robaxin. We are devastated, by know in our hearts it was the right thing to do. My friend who is a vet in a different state is upset with me and thinks I put him down too soon. This whole thing is killing me and now I'm second guessing what I did because of her....I can't stop crying
  17. Staph infections are really hard to get rid of even with culture and sensitivity. It's finding the right antibiotic and the length of time on it. Dylan had a horrible one on his back and belly and he was on the antibiotic about 6 weeks.
  18. Do you know if it was Depo Medrol they used? Was it injection into the lumbar area?
