Good news. My 13 year old Shilo was supposed to have a dental on Monday, too! His kidney values were wonky so we elected not to do the dental just yet. Hope she bounces back quickly!

Two of mine a avid poo eaters, 2 graze anything green so it's muzzles and stool guards all around. They will still come in with poo ground into the muzzles!

Always, but my vet is a graduate. Just recently he called Dr. Marin about Amicar.

Well, Angel was the queen of GH! She had 2 laser proceedures to fix it. And it did start to come back. Turns out it was a rare side effect to one of her heart meds that I thought she was on too large a dose of. OSU adjusted her meds and cut it way back so it did seem to stop the overgrowth. It was never a problem for her after that. The laser really was the best way to go as it really did not bleed at all. My vet office did not have the laser but the same owner had another location that did and it was worth the 30 minute drive twice. They originally thought it would take 4 times!

They are nice. Really thick padding on the bottom. Only problem I have is the elastic strap is not fastened to the boot. Makes it more adjustable but I keep misplacing the elastic. I don't know what size mine are-not labeled.

Depending on what is recommended, some drugs cannot be shipped across state lines.

Poor Marx! Abby (13 1/2) had a dental yesterday and she is a mess too! She only lost 4 teeth. They pumped her so full of fluids she has been peeing non-stop. A little of the big D this morning, too. I just hate the few days after a dental. Abby had a small growth from "under her tail" removed also so she is very sad! Marx is probably just getting rid of the effects of surgery.

Fingers crossed. I am dreading having my 2 13 year olds get dentals! Hope she does ok.

Angel was on Enalipril for years along with a combination of other things for her blood bressure and heart problems and had no issues with it. It was a delicate balance between her heart meds and her PPA but she did well for years and actually went to the bridge because of age and spinal problems. It's not an expensive drug as these things go.

Interesting idea. I'll ask next time I'm down at OSU. Might be that it would be extremely expensive for veterinary use as pain control.

I would consult with OSU always. One thing to consider, though. Pain control is very hard if it's osteo and will very quickly become impossible. Sooner than you would think. As others have said. We've gone both ways and there really is no right answer for everyone. It's all about what's right for your dog. We've dealt with several different kinds of cancer and bone cancer causes the most indecision!

Shilo's lymphoma was a very quick onset in Feb. There are different types. His was the one that responds well to chemo. A couple of days on Pred got them down to normal and he underwent 25 weeks of chemo and is doing very well. I so hope you are not dealing with this. He did not act sick so maybe your's is infection. That cost is outrageous! I wonder why the rads and ultrasound?

I have had one misdiagnosed by the lab. My vet now uses a different lab!

Its horrible you have to go through this! I can just relate our recent experience. Arwen had a mass in her liver and was clinically diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma. She had surgery to remove the mass and her sleen which looked "wonky". Her bloodwork had been off which was why they went looking for something, but I don't remember what her levels were. Pathologists cannot confirm the hemangiosarcoma but the doctors believe it was. This is Dr. Couto and the top surgeons and oncologists at OSU I'm talking about! So based on her symptoms we treated her with chemo. She is doing fine. Now, she was not in a very weakened condition before surgery so I really don't know what I'd do in your case. Chemo can be hard on some greys-they just don't tolerate it well. I've had 2 who had to stop their chemo early because they had lost too much weight. (those 2 did survive their cancer)

All the donors I know think its no big deal. A great thing to do if she is cooperative. It will all depend on her temperament and how good the vet is with drawing blood.

Today we sent our grand old girl to the bridge. Angel was the last of our original four. At 14 years, 8 months her old body was just falling apart. She has survived cancer, hypertension, heart problems, kidney problems, extreme dental surgery, LS,.....you could not find a sweeter girl.

It seems to be used regularly at OSU for post surgical bleeding. Arwen was on it after removal of a liver mass and splenectomy last summer. (It is assumed the mass was hemangiosarcoma but pathologists still haven't comfirmend it) She had no problems but I have heard nothing about the effects of using it for a bleeding tumor or prolonged usage. It is usually given for a short period after surgery.

My little Weany had been given this as a pup and her teeth were always orange. She did have the healthiest teeth of my bunch. (not saying much)

2 brindles, 3 cowdogs, 2 reds, all with various forms of cancer. However the brindles and a red were the ones with bone cancers.

I agree with the rimadyl ideas. I have had dogs react immediatly and ones who took some time to react. I do not like the stuff.

That is young! I have had 3 with it but all began showing symptoms at ages 12 and up. I haven't had any luck treating it but they have all been elderly dogs.

Game plan is a good one. But they may not be able to give you a definite answer either. Arwen had part of her liver removed July 30th. All the oncos say she has hemangiosarcoma but the pathologists still cannot confirm it after 4 sets of slides. we have caused quite a lot of "discussion" down there. She's being treated anyway because that is a time bomb I won't wait for.

We tried the cookie sheets. He dumped them once then learned to get around them. The next time he dumped one it actually scared him because I was hiding around the corner to add to the noise. We can do gates sometimes and he respects the gate as long as we are here. It's just so surprizing because he is 8 and not right off the track.
