  1. I saw Christina (of the blood bank)and Lily (Dr. Marin) this morning and told them about all the great feedback I'm hearing here and on Ravelry Greyknits group.
  2. I'm so sorry. He was such a sweet guy! I'm glad I got to meet him
  3. I was there. That Team rocks! I hope the head of continuing education (who was the "MC")got just how devoted greyhound owners are. This has been something Dr. C. and Co. have been trying to get across to the administration.
  4. Hope to see you all there. I wonder if we get nametags if we could write our GT names also so we can recognize each other. GT Packmom. I'll know you, Jane!
  5. From his website. February 20, 2010 Cesar Millan, all his family and friends, his staff and volunteers, and dog lovers all around the world today will mourn the passing of one of the most loyal, trusting, well-balanced, and influential pit bull ambassadors the world has ever known. Daddy, Cesar's longtime friend and partner in canine rehabilitation, died peacefully surrounded by family on Friday the 19th of February. He was sixteen years old. He lived each day of those sixteen years happy and fulfilled as Cesar's right-hand-"man," helping to shape the behavior of entire generations of dogs by showing them the way to balance. He stood as champion for calm-submissive pit bulls everywhere, and was instrumental in helping to repair their image as violent, savage, uncontrollable beasts. He successfully battled cancer and weathered chemotherapy, and even got the opportunity to present at the 56th Annual Creative Arts Emmy Awards! His name is now added to that honorable roster of dogs gone by whose influence is still felt today, and which includes some of Cesar's beloved childhood heroes: "Rin-Tin-Tin." "Lassie." ... "Daddy." He has been immortalized by Dog Whisperer fans in all mediums, from painting, to photographs, to charcoal drawings and papier-mâché sculpture. And, of course, he lives on in his work, reflected in the balance and calm-submission of his protégé Junior, the countless animals to whom he was a positive role model, and in the hearts and minds of everyone who knew him as a calm, sweet, and mellow example of a widely misunderstood breed. In Loving Memory. If you would like to express your sympathy, post a comment on Daddy's memorial page or send a message through our contact form. Select the category "Express my condolences for Daddy's passing" to ensure it goes to the correct email address. To honor Daddy's legacy, the Daddy's Emergency Animal Rescue ["DEAR"] Fund has been established by the Cesar and Ilusion Millan Foundation. The DEAR Fund will provide assistance for dogs who are victims of abuse or violence, man-made disasters, and large-scale natural disasters. If you would like to honor Daddy's memory and the contributions he made to improve the lives of animals, you can make a donation by visiting MillanFoundation.org/daddyfund www.cesarsway.com | www.millanfoundation.org Unsubscribe | Complain | Edit Profile | Confirm | Forward to a friend 3727 W. 6. CHOP is what we started. Lymphoma is known for learning to become immune to the drugs after a while, I hear.
  7. Unbelieveable! That is what Dr. C wrote back. He is at Scooby but the e-mails flew and we got in to OSU the very next day. Shi is my 5th cancer dog but lymphoma is the 3rd kind and new for us. It is staged at 4A. Immunotype should be back today. He got his first chemo yesterday-24 more weeks to go. He's not feeling himself today. I've had dogs that flew through chemo with no problems and ones who did not tolerate it at all. He is in a blind study for a suppliment for the GI upsets that chemo can cause but, of course, we don't know if he's getting it or the dummy. So tell us about your experience with lymphoma.
  8. I highly respect Dr. C and I like him very much as a person. He is always very optomistic and has tons of resources so is usually wanting to try anything that might help if there is a shred of hope. That's his job. The only side effect we have had with chemo is loss of appetite so......if she's already not eating chemo won't fix that right away. It took Angel quite a long time to recover from that-she's picky anyway. We had to stop her chemo because she had lost too much weight.
  9. I have an unopened bottle of Biochem Liver Support Factors that expires in 2/11 that I had ordered for Leeanna and never used. She had prescriptions of a much stronger version. If someone wants it I will send it on to you. Just PM me with an address.
  10. Arwen has always had thin sleek hair. She's white so lots of pink skin shows. She's not one to spend any time outside other than our walks which are not long due to the age of the others. Her skin is good but she's always had the dirtiest ears! TOTW is only about $5 more a bag than the Nutri-source and probably better for them all. Is it a low-residue food? Abby sure could use that! NS is supposed to be and is for Shilo but not the others.?
  11. Haven't noticed anything else yet. This came on so suddenly. They eat Nutri-source right now. It has brown rice, barley and oats. Started this about 5-6 months ago. They seem to all do well on it. I know you can drive yourself crazy trying to guess what started this reaction. I have been reading on the Yahoo group for SLO dogs about the use of grain free. It wouldn't hurt to try. She will eat absolutely anything! (except pills!)

    Looking For Poem

    http://www.showdog-magazine.com/poems.htm Maybe on this site?
  13. My vet saw we were coming in again with a toenail and he had already started looking at SLO! We are starting off with this same protocol. Little girl is very sad now with her feet wrapped but will be happy later when she gets to go to Grandma's instead of the kennel!
  14. It is almost certainly SLO. Poor girl lost 8 more nails! All 4 paws in bandages. Guess I will have to get used to falling off nails!
  15. Could be that "old dog look". But she seems a little on the young side to look haggard. She has been through a lot, though. Stuff like that ages us, so maybe them too.
  16. I'd wonder more about their personalities. Why did the non-racers flunk out? Are they timid or just slow? Some think long time racers have a higher prey drive. I've had both kinds and I haven't seen that it made much difference health-wise. Get the one you love! I do have a preference for older dogs.
  17. Three now have seem ripped off in a bloody event. One was just lifting off and had a stinky infection. It was removed during a dental and the infection cultured. Thought she must have injured it at the time the other was torn. Now on the other foot the two middle ones seem loose and also smell. Her nails have always been softer that the others' but not abnormal. We're going in this morning and i'll be taking copies of Dr. Stack's page with me. "the nail has not come off all the way and I've had to pull it off the rest of the way with pliers (vet told me to do this) before bandaging the foot." EEEEEEWWWWWW! I can handle most anything medical with these guys but Toenails give me the willies!
  18. Dogs with SLO-what is your experience with the toenail loss? Is it just that it dies and falls off? Is is a bloody injury type thing? Arwen has had a series of nail injuries and ripped off nails since August. All on the same foot, though, one at a time. This last one we know she got caught in the baby gate.
  19. It really solved Angel's wetting but it is a stimulant so you have to keep an eye on it. She is being evaluated today for a heart rythm abnormality so I will reserve judgment. She has been on it for a year now.
  20. If it is just scaling off the plaque without then polishing the teeth it sets them up for more and quicker plaque build up because it creates small rough edges for the stuff to cling to. You really need to brush well.
  21. Leeanna's lesion was discovered by accident while looking at something else-no pain yet. She was 11. It did not change for 5 months. Once it started to cause pain we let it go for about 4 months before it became too much with meds.
  22. Notie is becoming quite good at the stink eye! "Stoopid hoomin keeps finding new ways of torture! My REAL Mommy would never do this to me!"
