  1. I feed raw pork, parasites are not really a problem any more in the US. I don't know about Canada, but I would guess your commercial food supply is at least as safe as ours, if not more. Wild or feral pigs, no way!
  2. I hope Merlin is feeling better! Fletcher never had any problems with Metronidizol, but he was never on it for more than a few months at a time. I have noticed, as he has gotten older that there are foods he used to tolerate that he can no longer eat I hope this is not the case with Merlin. edited to add, I wouldn't try this now, but once you get him stable again, you might try some Manuka honey. I was very skeptical, but finally gave it a try, and it works wonders for nipping flare-ups in the bud!
  3. so frustrating, waiting for answers! Peanut!
  4. I have not fed pig feet, but I believe the bones are much softer than ribs, so he should do ok.
  5. I've been feeding raw for going on 8 years, and I only tried whole beef hearts once. I don't know why, but they just skeeved me out, worse than anything else I will gladly pay more to have someone else cut them up!
  6. Ah, this old myth is still around Dogs in the racing kennels get a mixture of raw meat (ground beef, usually) and kibble everyday. People eat things that have different digestion rates all the time. It really doesn't make any difference, you can combine kibble and raw if you want, I do it every day for the girls. If you want to feed the two thing seperately, that's fine too, but you don't have to. Also, for the OP, the white tripe you see at the grocery won't hurt your dogs, but it has little nutritional value, so don't feed it as a meal, rather as a treat. The stinky green tripe is what is very, very good for them The fresh pigs' ears should be ok, but I would take it slow, just because you said the pig's heart gave them the runs.
  7. I am sorry you didn't get more time with him, but I agree, if his body is giving up, it's time

    Poor little girl
  9. I would think it would be ok, goats usually aren't very big/heavy, closer to lamb in size than beef. I'd give it a try, that is if the lungworm thing isn't a problem. I've fed mine goat on occasion, but here it comes from the Carcenerias usually cut up into pieces. The only thing I've taken away is a big old socket (hip, probably), mostly because I didn't want to stand around and wait while Fletcher worked on it, and with multiple dogs, I wasn't going to leave them unsupervised with bones!
  10. Oh, I know how terrible you must feel! (probably worse than Maggie!) I don't know how many times I've stepped on, kicked, stumbled over one of mine, they are always underfoot
  11. for a clean x-ray! any chance she could have hurt her neck? that can show up in weird ways.
  12. hope you get some answers and it is an easy fix!
