  1. Just watch him when he first starts taking it. Fletcher had some side effects and had to stop, but "Issue Boy" was the dictionary definition of quirky, so Brady will probably be fine. Side effects were similar to what I have seen described here for some dogs that have a problem with Tramadol (which he was fine with).
  2. "if we wanted a vet that provided medically accurate information we should go somewhere else" Seriously? Wow, you are so much better of without those clowns! It is frustrating to not have a vet you can have confidence in. I hope the ones you are going back to have improved, but they have to be better than these folks.
  3. I agree with keeping it bandaged for now. If you can put some Manuka honey on it before you bandage, it will heal faster.
  4. I am so sorry, Rudy was such a sweet boy
  5. Rickie was a very special boy, I am so sorry for your loss.
  6. Good to hear his x-rays were clean! Hope you can find out what is bothering him.
  7. poor boy! Those drama queens/kings do make life interesting
  8. I hope it is just arthritis and the nasty weather has made it hurt more which is why he is cranky. Not that I want him to hurt, you understand!
  9. I gave it to Fletcher with his food on a daily basis. It seemed to help prevent flare ups of his IBD. Because of the antibacterial properties of the honey? I don't know, but it worked. I see you did give the vet a fecal sample, it does sound like he may have something going on, maybe, I am not sure what the correct terms are, but there is an overgrowth of bad stuff in the intestines that can cause intermittent problems (sorry I can't be more specific!)
  10. Yes, give him a tablespoon or two of Manuka honey to eat, I used to give it to my IBD dog. I hope the fecal shows something that can be easily fixed
  11. I have been following (as well as I could) all this, and all I can say is you must be and trying figure out what is going on! It does sound like your vet is thorough and not afraid to ask for help from experts, so hopefully you will get some answers and get her well
  12. It really does depend on what she is sensitive to. Unfortunately, the only way to find that out is trial and error. Yogurt and Ensure are good choices if she can tolerate dairy. Some people have had good luck with nutritional yeast (didn't work for me) or a strong smelling cheese like Parmesan (Bill's shaky cheese) Sardines, although not too many at one time.
  13. This is very true. A friend of mine's Standard Poodle became very protective of her when she was pregnant. After the baby was born, Lucy went back to normal behavior with my friend and became the baby's protector
  14. Sallie, who is one of the friendliest, most non aggressive dogs I've ever met, often growls in her sleep. She has no sleep startle, no space issues, but she is a very sound sleeper. I just assume she is dreaming
  15. I'd be interested in hearing what you think of it.
  16. we don't have the ice and snow problems here, but I can understand about the difficulties of dealing with an old dog. I had my handyman build a ramp like Neighsayer described and it was a lifesaver for my old guys, I was so glad to have it. I hope Tori makes it to warmer weather!
  17. No clue, but at this point I would consult with an expert, Dr C, or if there is another greyhound specialist in the area. Oh, wanted to add, the snarkiness with Mirage is probably because she doesn't feel well.
