  1. I bet Saoirse would keep them on their toes! *Abu ducks for cover*
  2. Buddy makes a similar noise and we often comment on his ‘steam train’ impression due to the chug chug noise he makes. We haven’t always, but we currently walk him on a harness because I feel more able to pull back against him if he pulls for some reason (usually sight of a cat, squirrel, leaf or crisp packet) without hurting him. Not everyone feels like that so it’s a case of personal preference really. Does he cough a lot after exercise or on hot days? I don’t think what he is doing in the video is coughing, it just sounds pretty normal to me.
  3. Buddy says ‘thank you’ for the extra round of treats that he’s just received. Mum and dad had a rare trip out without him to go out for breakfast and then to the cinema. As a distraction, he got a yogurt pot, a goat’s ear and his toothbrush toy, and on our return he got a cream pot too. So yes, it is true. Any if anyone else wants to wish him a happy belated birthday…bring it on! Yes, all those toys and he only really plays with Honky the Hedgehog and his bacon ball
  4. My in-laws kept their cat’s ashes in a wooden box on the mantelpiece for a while. It was a lovely decorative box but with no indication to an outsider what was in it. I think they scattered the ashes when they felt ready. I’m not sure but I think the ashes were bagged inside the box to prevent any spillage if the box was accidentally knocked because it was a hinged lid.
  5. Good thoughts winging their way to you from Buddy and family! We hope tomorrow goes well
  6. Congratulations! No wonder you’re celebrating. Garden zoomies for everyone!
  7. The world would be a much worse place without peanut butter. Glad to hear he’s eating something
  8. It’s because he’s never fed Thank you all for your kind wishes. I’m looking forward to posting his 12th birthday pictures already
  9. I’m a little late in posting this as his birthday was on Friday (remember, remember, the fifth of November) but I took a day off work to bake him a cake and have some cuddles. We’ve noticed a few changes in the past year. He seems to get tired on his walks more easily and doesn’t want to go as far - although he still follows even the longest walks with some monster zoomies! He’s a having a bit more difficulty in hauling his big old bum off his bed, and he’s a bit clumsy, mostly in relation to him being very focused on what’s ten paces ahead, and not seeing right in front of him. We have a name for the cloudiness in his eyes that he’s had since we got him (nuclear sclerosis) but it’s not getting any worse and it doesn’t seem to be bothering him. Getting into the car is harder for him too. But some things haven’t changed. He’s still my shadow. He’s still curious (nosey) about everything. He still creeps up behind me to inspect my cooking and baking skills, and to enjoy the spoils of my work. And he’s still the biggest, loveable cuddlebug I’ve ever met. Here are some photos from his big day. Some of you follow him on Instagram and have already seen these so apologies for the repetition. I thought I would particularly like to share photos this year as so many houndies have gained their wings or given their owners lots of sleepless nights. It’s really driven home how precious every day with him is. Enjoy! https://www.instagram.com/p/CV5FfaFq5K0/?utm_medium=copy_link https://www.instagram.com/p/CV5kZJbqeRL/?utm_medium=copy_link https://www.instagram.com/p/CV5qvVZqM0n/?utm_medium=copy_link
  10. I’m so sorry to read this. It truly is a beautiful tribute and the photos of her show her playful side as you described. Best wishes
  11. Yes. But maybe not as fashionable. I used to love that program!
  12. We have a few items of clothing for ours but this was the first year that we have tried something that requires us putting his legs into. Once it’s on, we leave it on. Although he doesn’t seem to mind us pulling him around too much, he’s not a big fan of it and as an older gentleman, he’s not quite as supple as he used to be so I think he’s a little uncomfortable when I try and scissor fold his legs to get him into clothes. but, once the really cold and miserable weather sets in here in the UK, he is going to be wearing his jumper that his nanny knitted because she has also knitted me a matching jumper! I had the same thought as Greysmom - if you’re going to persist, try something really stretchy. Otherwise steer clear of the legs and if you’re worried about him being cold, you could double up on coats. That’s what we’re doing at the minute.
  13. I’m sorry to hear this. Sending hugs and best wishes your way
  14. Between them, Sweep and Jeter have us on edge. But now Sweep is competing with him to bring us better than hoped for news. Good girl Sweep!
  15. Some good news! Let’s hope he keeps up with the eating
  16. Lovely photos from a beautiful day. Annie’s collar is perfect for a demonic slipper snaffler .
  17. I’m sure that everyone here has shouted at their pet at some point because no matter how much we love them, they can be a bit annoying just by doing what they do. I know I have and not when I’ve been under the amount of stress that you are now. Good luck for you today, I hope that you get some good news.
  18. Your dog sighing prompts a shared stupid grin on the human’s faces…especially if that sigh makes your dog’s lips flutter/causes puffy cheeks
