  1. This whole situation has left me speechless! My heart goes out to you! Your adoption group has failed you in every way possible, and then some. What a shame. So sorry this happened. When I had to return my 1st greyhound because of severe separation anxiety(she was an only greyhound and hated my labx), I was very upset, I, like you, did not want want to give up on my girl. They were extremely supportive and assured me there was a better fit home for her and a better fit hound for me(which there was). This should have been your experience and I'm so sorry it wasn't. My condolances to you on your group's descision with Ami. So sad, and most likely unnecessary.
  2. I would not schedule a chiropractic until that area was x-rayed.
  3. My lab had the surgery and did not have any problems with incontinance. It can be a risk though from what I have heard. It doesn't sound like you have any choice though. Hope it goes smoothly. My dog had a sudden infection that literally showed up overnight. I saw it bulging when I took him for his morning walk. He was at the vet by noon. It exploded through his skin and all over the floor in the vet's waiting room! THE most disqusting, vile smelling mess ever! Better to take care of it now. Anal gland problems often become chronic.
  4. Bad breath is usually a plaque/tooth problem or sometimes a stomach problem. I wouldn't waste money on it. Brush teeth daily, use a good oral rinse/spray. As with people, it's the only way to get rid of or at least lessen bad breath. A healthy mouth is a fresh mouth. Professional teeth cleaning as necessary. There are no shortcuts for this issue. I know from experience with some pretty foul mouths; they could light up a room with it! Good luck.
  5. Crates are overrated. Baby gates? My boy thinks it's a high step. He does fine out and about as long as the binds are up and curtains pulled back so he can see out. If windows are blocked, blinds and curtains come down!
  6. Please post the picture of him at the beach when you can, I would love to see it to! Glad he is doing well.
  7. I agree with you from what you describe. I don't think it was play. I think she believes that somebody is being hurt and is trying to stop it. Years ago I had a german shephard who was in no way aggresive, he was always friendly to everybody. But, when anybody roughhoused with each other, he would react the exact same way your dog does. He would run around and dive at them, barking, as if he was trying to get them to stop.Very anxious, not happy or playful at all. One day we took him sledding with us. He did not like the idea of us sledding down the hill and screaming. It made him very anxious. At one point, my friends went down the hill with boyfriend lying on bottom of sled, and girlfriend on top. Lots of screaming down the hill. My dog flipped out, chased them and bit the guy in the shoulder and the girl in the butt. Very serious bites. they had giant bruises through the layers of clothing. If they didn't have all those layers on, They would have needed stitches. I'm not sure how you can desensitize her, but until she no longer reacts that way I would stop playing before she gets into that state of anxiety. It sets her up for failure and somebody could end up with a serious bite one day. She's trying to tell you as best she can that the play makes her anxious. Hope somebody has an idea for you on how to stop the reaction.
  8. I believe hemangiomas are benign. Hemangiosarcomas are malignant.
  9. Wishing you only the best outcome and lots of time with your pup.
  10. 2 greyhoundMINI,Just looked up bear creek- it is not too far from me, I'm in Effort. It would be great if you could ask them who they go to. Thanks!
  11. Don't you know those acorn caps are brutal??
  12. Maybe look at cyclosporin for dry eye? That's what rystasis for humans is. I've used it on 2 of my dogs in the past .Cyclosporin is by prescription only.
  13. Glad your pup is O.K. I was wondering what part of PA you are from? I live in the poconos and am looking for a new Vet and was wondering if your vet is nearby.
  14. I've been using fresh factors for about 3 months now. My boy is about the baldest greyhound I've ever seen. Although he did not grow more fur from it, the fur he has is more sleek and shiny with no flaky skin anymore. No dramatic changes, but I do think it was helpful. As far as the review of springtime that was posted goes, I'd want to know who backs this site before I made any decision about springtime.
  15. He LOVES you!! He just can't control his joy. My Jax used to do it all the time when he was really happy.
  16. My boy does that too. So have some of my previous greys. I doubt it means anything, just one of their peculiarities.
  17. Maybe she's just expressing a closer bond with you now that her best bud is gone.
  18. Great news!! He looks much better in the new pic than the original pic.
  19. Mine loves his needlenose apperal winter coat and it's waterproof and covers his bald belly nicely.
  20. Years ago I had a dog with constant problems with raw, inflamed elbows with no other symptoms. Turns out it was from powdered carpet deodorizer. Could it be scented laundry detergent or fabric softener?
  21. That's good news!!! Thanks for sharing, I knew nothing about dog bp's. To anyone, should all greys have yearly BP checks?
