  1. Manny likes toys small, squeeky and fluffy. He hasn't many teeth so nothing too tuffy. A Flying Irish Greyhound wears green all around town. Treats are the best Manny says yes, yes yes! Momma's soft spot is always for chocolate.
  2. I love love love the card exchange! Count me in. Thank you for organizing this. I just ordered my cards
  3. I'm in! I've missed the deadline the last couple of years and am so glad to get in on it again!
  4. I say Manny puts the tired into retired. He is the slowest walker and lies down if I stop to talk to someone. Lately, when I take him in to work with me, he doesn't even get up when people come over to say hi.
  5. If it isn't too late, I'd like to join. I've been so busy I keep forgetting to check this site; I'm always on Greytalk FB.
  6. Manny gets dandruff occasionally in the winter. I rub coconut oil on his skin/coat - maybe a tablespoon. It seems to clear up in just a day or so.
  7. Thank you for the wonderful presents. Manny likes his grunter squeaky toy, and all the treats. I love the German chocolates.
  8. Thank you for helping me get mine fixed. Greytly appreciated.
  9. Greetings from the opposite end of the country!
  10. so sorry for your loss. thank you for making his last months wonderful; the love shows through your tribute.
  11. Welcome from the Pacific Northwest! Manny is also from Ireland.
  12. Welcome from Bellingham! I just adopted Manny from Greyhound Pets in Woodinville for Christmas! Here he is modeling his raincoat.
  13. I love it! Thank you, Ducky. I wore it to the kennel to show my support for greyhounds all over the country - and came home with an international traveler!
  14. I got my Christmas present a day late. I was supposed to get my present on Friday, but the weather was too bad. Meet Manny, an Irish greyhound who came to the Pacific Northwest in November, and now has his forever home. Merry Christmas to us both! Meeting Manny at the kennel. He made a beeline for me - love at first sight! I did look at other hounds to be sure, but he stole my heart from the get-go. He's making himself right at home. No roaching yet, although he did a sort-of partial roach when i was sitting next to him petting him. I am so Happy!

  17. Lori, You are missed here on GT. I am sso sorry to read this about Sheana. Run free, beautiful girl.
  18. Hi. I'm in northwestern Washington as well. I don't have a greyhound now, but i have seen this group at dog events and even bought a 'black greyhounds ROOOOL! T-shirt from them. They may be able to give you some hands-on help when you get your hound. www.greyhoundpetsinc.org
  19. I used PAWZ booties on my guy when I lived in Madison, WI. They are like thick balloons that slip over their feet and work really well at protecting the feet from salt. We walked a lot on the sidewalks, so the problem was more with salt than snow, but they helped with both. They last a fairly long time. They come 12 to a pack, so when one does get ripped or lost, you have several replacements. When Davis got into snow that was really deep, he occasionally lost a bootie, and since his were a bright greeen I couled ususally go back and find it. If not me, one of my neighbors would, and I would come home from work to find a green bootie on my doorknob. I found it easiest to put them on him when he was lying down. He got so that if I grabbed the booties and waved them at him, he would go to his dog bed and lie down and wait for me to put his booties on. Booties meant time to go OUTSIDE!!! Good luck with your girl. I hope she learns to enjoy the snow; Davis sure did.
  20. Welcome to GreyTalk and the Wonderful World of Greyhounds! I agree with Carol and Lisa - get to a meet-n-greet! I hung out at meet-n-greets before I got my guy, and learned a lot from people just by hanging around with them and talking to them about their dogs. There is a wealth of information to be found onthis site, but the person-to-person contact is even better, as you can ask questions and get an answer immediately. You can also get your 'greyhound fix' as you wait on getting yours! The more you are around these lovable dogs, the more you'll love them and eagerly await brining one into your family.
  21. i used to have some good recipes, but lost them when I moved. Funny thing about them thoug, Davis didn't like Mom's treats! I took them in to work and gave them to my friends with dogs, and their dogs loved them. 'Davis cookie' was a sure way for one friend to get her dog to be good! I had to put peanut butter on them to get Davis to even eat them, and they were made with peanut butter and pumpkin!
