  1. TOTW seems to be a very rich food, much like our experience with Blue Buffalo. If we gave add-ins, we usually had to cut the amount of kibble back a little in those meals where we did so. It seems to be more of a balancing act with those rich kibbles. Both were very good, but we found that they were just too rich for Rocket's system to handle them for more than a few months before we were back to Big D or mush. Maybe try cutting about 1/4 cup of kibble when you give add-ins and see what happens.
  2. If it hasn't stopped after 4 hours, it's time to go to the vet.
  3. We used to feed TOTW until we reached a point where it just no longer worked for Rocket. The one thing to make sure you are doing is following the instructions for the amount you feed. It varies with each variety of TOTW. Being a rich food, it is easy to over-feed if you aren't following the instructions, resulting in soft poop.
  4. The bland diet creates very little in the way of a stool. I have had better luck feeding Rocket Evanger's Canned Organic Chicken when he has a stomach issue. It is ground very fine and I think it digests much easier. I usually don't bother with rice any more, but after a day or two if he needs more food will mix in pasta that is way overcooked so that he thinks he is full. Once we start getting regular bowel movements (by regular, I mean 1 or 2 a day - they will still not be regular in consistency) I soak kibble in warm water and mix it with the canned to start working it back in to his diet a little at a time. Also, make sure your pup is drinking. Check for dehydration and if the level in the water bowl isn't going down, I add just a splash of Gatorade (Rocket has a sweet tooth and will drink every time if there is Gatorade in his water) Others have added chicken broth to flavor the water and get a dog to drink.

    Spudzilla

I'm so sorry for your loss of Spud. He was one of my favorites here. Run free Spud.
  6. They are usually fed in their crates at the kennel. This is most likely a holdover from that routine. Their bed is now their safe place instead of the crate.

    Jet

I'm so sorry for your loss. The look on her face in the pictures show how much she loved her life with you. Run pain-free sweet Jet.
  8. Sending lots of good thoughts for Snoopy and Miss Donna from all of us here at Rocket's house.
  9. Lots of good thoughts for Fuzzy and Paul coming their way!
  10. Happy Birthday Nadia. You are very much missed.
  11. Happy Birthday Hot Rod! Even though we never got to meet you, you are missed more than many can know, especially with Rocket being one of your many "brudders from anudder mudder." The two of you are very much alike, right down to googly eyes, being silly, and your handsome gray faces. We think of you every day and see your picture on the Winners By A Nose Poster several times a day as we walk by it. Happy Birthday sweet boy. You are still making all of us smile, even if there are also some tears involved. Run pain-free.
  12. We met an AKC Greyhound puppy a year or two ago at the place where we board Rocket. He french kissed both of us. Apparently, he still does this with everyone he meets. Talk about being caught off guard...... Glad to hear the Henry is doing so well.
  13. Next training class: How To Raid the Refrigerator 101...
  14. That cat picked the wrong yard......hope they are feeling better soon.
  15. Not to take away from Aiden and Cinco's introduction, but we don't see nearly enough of the gang at HeeHoo's house. I think their Momma needs to start a thread and post some pics. How's that for a subtle hint?
  16. Welcome to your forever home guys! I can hear the joy in your Momma's writing! I have a feeling that Camp Greyhound better have the camera on standby with these two! Congratulations to all at Camp Greyhound! PeeeeS - Happy Birthday Aiden!
  17. Our vet switched Rocket to Trifexis. He threw it up the first time after about an hour, but the second time we gave it (a month later), he did fine. You MUST give it right at the end of a meal on a completely full stomach. Other than the first incident, he has done fine on it. Will be watching to see what changes next with all of these products.
  18. Thanks to Taylor and Face's dad for sending me this info. For those of us awaiting the return of Interceptor to the market, it's apparently not going to happen. Apparently Interceptor will not be manufactured for the US market any longer. Only Sentinel Flavor Tabs will be available. I hate marketing decisions. Here's the article: If this is a repost, I missed it the first time around, but didn't find anything on a search. http://veterinarynews.dvm360.com/dvm/Parasitology+Center/Sentinel-Flavor-Tabs-reintroduced-to-veterinary-ma/ArticleStandard/Article/detail/810830?contextCategoryId=40534
  19. It can take more than a week. I wouldn't worry yet, especially if the blood has cleared up. We deal with bloody/gelatinous stools with Rocket a couple times a year. I have started using Evanger's Canned Organic Chicken instead of cooking chicken for him. It seems to work better for him, I think because it is ground so fine that it's easier to digest. i can slowly start mixing kibble with it a little at a time until he is back on kibble after the bloody stools clear up. Be sure to continue the Flagyl until things are back to normal, kibble can irritate the tummy and you will be back where you started .
  20. Thanks for the replies. Will check into this a little further and decide what to do.
