I'm talking to my vet about putting Iker on some. I tried Clomicalm with him, but it really knocked him out and he stopped eating (too big a dosage?). I had been trying to avoid meds, but I think it is more important to live with a happy dog. I think our dogs would be much happier if they weren't scared and stressed all the time.

Good luck! If his teeth are bothering him at all, he will feel so much better after the dental.

Poor Lydia! Have you tried EMT gel for her cut? The harness also sounds like a good suggestion.

Carol, I gasped when I saw this. I always hoped that Mork would stay with you forever. I really liked him, and you and Ryan must be heartbroken. I'm so very sorry ETA: I'm actually crying. I never cry.

The session went great! I realized that I was doing wrong and what I need to do to help Iker. She didn't really say anything that I hadn't read; she explained things so clearly and with so much enthusiasm that I finally understood and the lightbulb finally went on. I was starting too big. I need to start from the very begining, like throwing food towards Iker to establish eye contact and a pattern of taking treats for good a desired response, even if it is nothing more than picking up the food. Using treats during a walk is just too large a step. Beth, I suggest you talk to her. It was well worth my time and the money, which wasn't really that expensive. She is going to send me a pdf of her book and articles, vidoes, etc.

Iker has a very prominent scar that goes all around his neck (he was hanged in Spain). It's always been bald, but I just noticed that it is starting to get kind of scabby. Any guesses as to what could be causing this? The weather has been very cold and dry, so maybe it's the lack of humidity? Anyway, do you think it would be a good idea to start applying a cream, such as Vitamin E, to it? Does anybody have any suggestions? I had been using cream in the past, but have stopped. The scabbing kind of concerns me. thanks
