  1. I've tried and tried but have not been able to figure out how to change my profile photo. Help please and thank you.
  2. Don’t you just love inhaling the loveliness of the top of their heads?
  3. Or, in Jenny’s case, her dried up tongue hanging out of her mouth.
  4. Greyhounds are known for having bald thigh syndrome. It’s generally nothing to worry about. If you’re very concerned have your vet run some bloodwork. 5 mg daily of melatonin has worked for some to regrow fur if you want to for cosmetic reasons.
  5. Our toy collection is in desperate need of replacement. Some of them have been through three Greyhounds worth of chomping and flinging. Most of the squeakers and grunters have seen better days. I've browsed through Chewy and Amazon for large, squeaking/grunting plush toys. Any other sites I should be perusing?
  6. Rest peacefully dear Connor. Gentle hugs to you, Remolacha.
  7. Can there be anything sweeter than relaxing in your favorite chair stoking your Greyhound's silky ears as she snuggles sleepily beside you? Heaven.
  8. He is redirecting his aggression/excitement. This is beyond my training knowledge. I would suggest consulting a behaviorist. I’d also highly recommend checking out Patricia McConnell’s website. She’s most likely got a book on dealing with redirected aggression.
  9. Remember that the staff at the adoption kennel are familiar with the dogs’ temperaments and can guide you towards an appropriate match.
  10. Gorgeous pups. all! Keep the photos and stories coming.
  11. I think it all depends on the dog. Each of my three Greys got along with the non-Greys in the family but related to them in different ways. Wendy was the fun police. No shenanigans when Wendy was on duty. Lola was so playful it sometimes became annoying. Jenny is more interested in people than in dogs and has been known to snark on occasion. None of them showed any aggression towards others.
  12. I’m so sorry young Jamie had to leave you. Peace to your aching heart.
  13. from Miami, Florida! Mike is gorgeous! Hope to hear all about your adventures together in the coming years.
  14. Sounds like time to schedule a vet visit. It could be any number of things. Can you provide more specifics?
  15. Regretfully, that area is uncovered and gets mega hot especially during the Miami summers. It also serves as a mini basketball court for the family. Oddly, she hasn’t used that area to toilet today. She’s gone on the grass. Who knows what’s going on in her pointed, little head.
  16. Cletus has a bad rep. He's obviously innocent. Love you, buddy.
  17. You're right about the vinegar! Thanks for pointing it out. I'm worried that the Nature's Miracle might make the floor slippery. Time to Google how to remove pee smell from concrete/
  18. After more than 2 weeks of pottying perfection - no accidents in house, pottying consistently in the right area in the yard on the grass- Jenny has decided that the concrete area next to the patio is just dandy for toileting. What's up with that!? This is a new one on me. Never had a dog switch from grass to concrete. Our yard is quite deep and wide so I'm wondering if something scared her back there and she is now reluctant to go I know what to do. Start Housebreaking 101 all over again, take her out on lead to the grassy area with a pocketful full of high value treats and wait till she 'goes'. Rough on me at dark thirty in the early morning in my slippers and pjs but you gotta do what you gotta do. However...clean-up, specifically of poop, is ever so much easier on concrete. I don't have to go on poop-patrol every day searching through the grass. Just bag it, toss it in the poopie dedicated trash can and hose the area down. No more dry, yellow spots on the grass. No more caca-foot after inadvertently stepping into a pile of caca I missed on patrol. A healthy dose of Nature's Miracle or (maybe white vinegar?) should keep the odor at bay. What say you Gt'ers?
  19. Thank you both. Your comments echo exactly what I was thinking. My son's dog is very mild-mannered and submissive so I'm guessing she'll get the message pretty quickly. Now it remains to be seen how Jenny will interact with my MIL's little dog who is a major snarker. Double-snarks. Eeesh!
