  1. I told the boys that I was going to get tattoos of the drawings. They thought it was a great idea.
  2. I have 3 hounds worth of toys! My floors in every room look like Toy R Us exploded. I love it!
  3. Nothing like being woken at 2am by Mr. Bill being shaken - “Oh, noooooo!!!!” Sheesh.
  4. My son, daughter-in-law and grandson came over yesterday for a pasta dinner and, of course, to meet Jenny. My son and grandson, would-be Picassos, drew their impressions of Jenny on the dry-erase board in the kitchen. I don't know whether to be flattered or insulted! Grandson drew Noodle Horse and son drew Jenny.
  5. I've lost count of how many hedgies we have right now and over the years of owning Greys. I think it's in the adoption contract that each hound must have at least one grunting hedgehog toy when they are adopted. A roach for a Greyhound owner, particularly one during the first few days after adoption, is like winning an Olympic gold medal. That, and a good poop!
  6. She is totally channeling my two lovey-dovey gone-girls. Lola could open doors the had flimsy door knobs. I'm convinced that she had retractable, opposable thumbs. Wendy is the reason we have gates with hard-to-open latches. She could open them with her snout. Sheesh. Yesterday, Jenny looked like she was calculating how to either open the gate, jump over the fence or crawl under it. I think today she has come to the conclusion that this is a pretty good place after all and hasn't tried any escape shenanigans.
  7. Happy to oblige! Early morning roach: Mr. Bill gets a shaking:
  8. I do! I do! Haven't been able to get a good one yet. Promise they're coming.
  9. Here's to an uneventful vet visit! I am dreadfully sorry to hear about Jamie's diagnosis.
  10. After losing Lola so suddenly and unexpectedly, I want to make extra sure that my new girl, Jenny, is healthy. We have a wellness check on Tuesday and I plan to ask for bloodwork, urinalysis and the usual fecal. Is there any other test I should be asking for?
  11. The obligatory hedgehog toy. Lydia is a very pretty girl. Hope to see and hear a lot more from both of you.
  12. I did! I did! Her name is Jenny and she's a real peach. She chose us and we're in love with her already.
  13. Thank you. It seems so unfair. She was so young and had only been home a short time. It was like a candle going out suddenly and unexpectedly. I miss her.
  14. Yes, we met Ottawa and several other great dogs. I really wanted a male. However, you often don't get the dog you want but always get the dog you need if you pay attention to the cues. Jenny chose us. She was so in to us - snuggling up asking for loves. She actually climbed up on DH's lap as he sat on a coach at the kennel. The boys were really not that interested. Also too, Jenny's nose curves to the left just like DH's who got elbowed once too often as a youth playing basketball!
  15. Anyone here from GPA of Florida/Southeast? What a fabulous adoption group! So kind, gracious and seriously devoted to these wonderful creatures. We had an excellent adoption experience.
  16. Jenny's first day and night at home have been fairly easy. Except for some sporadic panting and whining, she's been doing well. She has appropriated DH's recliner, I like to think because she can be next to me , and is being taught the "Off" command for when Daddy wants his chair. She has had no accidents indoors! Good girl, Jenny! Initially laser focused on the cockatiels, she has learned to "Leave It!" and has been ignoring them. Last night, we practiced not begging at the table. She seems to catch on pretty quickly to house rules. I'm starting alone training today as I see signs of separation anxiety. Jenny pretty much slept through the night on her bed in our bedroom. Tried to climb up with us but the "Off" command worked. She got me up at 4am to potty then went back to sleep until about 8am. Not a bad first night. Annnnnnnd......she roaches!
  17. Thank you all! The healing has begun. This is one sweet cuddle-bunny. She's got DH wrapped around her paw already. He's outside in the drizzle and hot hotness adjusting the height of two of our gates because Miss Jenny tried to squeeze under and could get her neck stuck. It's a love match!
  18. Please join me in welcoming our new girl, Jenny! She is 1.5 years old, 73 lbs of black beautiousness who was originally named Jenny Rocks. No races to her name. Her nose curves to the left and she has a slight underbite. Adorable. I'll post pix as soon as she settles in.
  19. Thanks for posting this. Hope to never need it but it's good to know.
  20. Petunia's got a WT(fill in the blank) face that is priceless! Trolley....
