    Daphne Is Gone

    Such a moving remembrance!
  2. Love will get you through this. Don't worry about "when." All any of us have is today so just enjoy and be grateful for today. She will probably help you through this more than you her. She will probably tell you everything you need to know at precisely the right time. They are so wise and their boundless love overcomes all. This is what has been my expereince. You both are in my prayers.
  3. I brought Ivy home 4 days post op. We had always slept together and the first night I froze-what to do? She immediately picked up on my dilemma and before I could say or do anything hopped up into the bed without incident-just like she always had done. We resumed our walks as soon as she arrived home. Short ones at first- 100 yards. Then almost 200 yards and she was ready to try and go after squirrels again! Then around the block in only a week or less. She was running with me shortly thereafter. She also continued to "fly" around the yard. I was concerned but the vet said I needed to let her and I know it was true. She was sooooo happy when she ran. You really couldn't tell she was a tripod because she was going so fast she was a blur!
  4. Love those ears! What a bright eyed perky girl she is. And now she'll have pearly white choppers too! Thanking God in advance for her safe and successful surgery.
  5. I am so sorry. What a beautiful tribute to a such a special hound.
  6. Oh how wonderful she has healed. You obviously are lucky to have a very gifted vet. I'll be looking for Zeke's story in Hero Hounds! You just never know what greatness is lurking in that great big greyhound heart! Gotta love a greyhound!
  7. My soulmate Slim was being fed from one at the direction of a vet due to a neck problem. I knew about the greatly increased risk of bloat but trusted that the vet had weighed all the factors and made the correct decision. I was wrong. He died agonizingly after 2 coded revivals and surgery for GDV involving the spleen which resulted in DIC. He was only six years old. I cannot justify their use after this. I will not have to suffer from the guilt of it happening again to one of my beloved houndies when I obviously should know better after losing my heartdog Slim to it. So they're out of the question for me.
  8. Top those heavenly hills Kenny!
  9. Prayers going up for da Soul Man! You're way to cool a houndie to be sick!
  10. When I see her pics she looks like she is handling it well...like she's tuff-enough!
  11. This is what I can't seem to recover from, not being with Andy when he went. My little boy went without his mom holding him. I don't know if I'll ever get past it. You are holding him in your HEART at this very moment. He knows/ understands you better than anybody(maybe even better than you) and knows what you were and were not capable of at that time in your life. I hope someday he sends you a sign to comfort you. He crossed over enveloped and held by your love-physical presence not withstanding. He knew this and he knows he will always be a part of your heart and is eternally loved.
  12. Goldie finally grew hair there after a year or two or three? It takes a while sometimes and sometimes they just stay bald. A very well regarded vet told me that sometimes melatonin helps. Didn't make much sense to me but that is what he said.
  13. all 4 of mine are 'suddenly' blowing their coats big time now
  14. What a moving tribute! I hope he finds my Appaloosa "Dollar" (Job's Answer) in the spirit world-sounds like they would like each other. Thanks so much for sharing. What a SPECIAL SPECIAL horse and friend!
  15. Oh what a lovely lady!
  16. I know exactly what you mean. Slim was a FIGHTER. In fact he loved nothing more than the possibility of a good fight. For him not to have responded aggressively would have signaled something terribly terribly wrong and we would be on the way to the e-vet. a lot of folks have a hard time envisioning a greyhound so aggressive- I myself didn't think it was possible- before I met Slim. Hope she is feeling better soon! PS -I have had outstanding results with accupuncture especially where pain is concerned.
  17. Griffin, your Mom could probably use a "sign".....run free and fast sweet baby.
