  1. Caroline, I'm so sorry Sabrine has left for the Bridge. She was absolutely gorgeous. I have such a fondness for the cowdoggies. I've lost 4 cowdoggies myself.
  2. Because our greys travel all over the place, Lymes is not the only tick borne disease they can have. A sample should be sent out for the tick panel, not just lymes. The panel gets tested for Lymes, Ehrlichia, Babesia, Rocky Mtn Spotted. and Valley Fever....if I recall correctly. In fact I believe Ehrlichia and Babesia are more prevalent than Lymes.
  3. You're not too far from several vet hospitals if you need to eventually go to a specialist. Red Bank (which has a satelite in Hillsborough), VSEC in Langhorne PA, CARES in Langhorne, PA and U of Penn in Philly. They're all about an hour from you, but that's pretty good.
  4. Yes, Luna the black little girl that collided with another greyhound was paralized, after months of rehab she now walks almost 100% fine. I can't seem to find the blog right now though...can anyone post it up? http://lunaslifeinthegardenstate.blogspot.com/ She collided with my Opal. Nancy, is surgery an option? I know with some dogs it is. There is a fantastic neurologist at Red Bank Vet Hospital. Dr. Glass. I wish you the best of luck and I hope Albi can recover.
  5. Keeping fingers crossed until we have an update......
  6. I'm sorry to hear the news. All you can do is love him more.
  7. Also has it always been the same sedative? My Onyx had an adverse reaction to valium. She was completely freaked out after being given it. And she was not a freaky type of dog. It was in prep for a fairly large wound suturuing. Your girl might need a different sedative...and it should be given at home where she's relaxed.
  8. That's the first thing that came to my mind. I just lost my Crystal. I rushed her to the vets thinking bloat and it was hmangio. I'm sorry. Spoil him rotten. However, if it's still just in the spleen a splenectomy will work. I just depends on if it's spread yet.
  9. Jayne, I'm so sorry Tessa is gone. She was a beautiful girl. She sounds like she had a wonderful personality.
  10. Oh Marc, I'm heartbroken. She was a beautiful Dutchess. And it seems you pegged her right.
  11. I'm so sorry Amaya is gone. They always leave us way too soon. Have fun at the Bridge sweetheart, and wait for your Momma to come later.
  12. What a beautiful little girl. I'm so sorry she's gone.
  13. While I have a vet that will come to the house, I dont' always have the chance. Pearl and Onyx were lucky enough to go to the Bridge from their bed at home. Brindle was sent there from surgery. Topaz and Diamond were at the vets office. Crystal was at the vets but in the car on my lap. None of them went in their sleep. I had to make the decision for all of them.

  16. Good luck Lazer. With my Pearl who had hypertension and heart disease, and with Onyx who was old (15.5) I chose the expensive dentist over my regular vet. Just add another zero to the end of the bill! But, in all the years she's been doing dentals, she only lost one and that was because the owner didn't follow post dental directions.
  17. I'm so sorry Jeannie. She was a beautiful girl. And although she had a long life, it doesn't make it any easier on you. You've had your share of losses.
  18. Oh I'm so very sorry. The first girl I lost was only 5. Even though that was 12 yrs ago, it still bothers me. I will always feel cheated. The shortest time I had a grey was 18 days. That was earlier this month. I have a total of 6 greys at the Bridge now, and it hurt just as bad for every one of them. Whether I had them 18 days or 11 and 1/2 yrs. Whether they were 5 or 15. Dream sounded like a very special girl. There will always be a special place in your heart for her.
  19. I'm so very sorry. Hemangio just does not allow for any time.. I lost my Brindle within hours of diagnosis and Crystal within days. My heart goes out to you.
  20. Don't fret about the heart. My Pearl was diagnosed with valvular disease and she lived (with a plethura of meds) for 7 yrs after diagnosis. She also had uncontrolled hypertension. She died at age 12 of cancer. You have a cardiologist. Have regular checkups with that doctor and she could live for years with heart disease. However, do keep up with the teeth. Bad teeth can cause more problems with the heart.
  21. What a beautiful girl. That's exactly what happened to my Diamond. She had a right front amputation with chemo and 6 months later OS showed up in her hind left leg. Considering it's supposed to be rare, I now know 1/2 dozen dogs that that's happened to. God speed Spirit.
