  1. Zim took YEARS before she really enjoyed being patted and cuddled with. It was well worth the wait. While waiting for zim to come around I adopted a 2nd!!
  2. Tony I am so sorry. I did not know he was sick. He was way too young. Unfortunately many of know the pain of PTS our first dog....
  3. Are you kidding me...another osteo?
  4. This is a long thread so I have not read all the posts. One thing that bugs me is some people think that if they don't let their dogs off leash then their quality of life is less than a dog that is allowed off the leash. Zim & Patches have traveled with me to the beach mountains hiking sledding and the city & not once let off the leash. They live like queens. In my opinion their quality of life is better than some humans I know.
  5. Glad to hear robin is doing well and the pharmacy was honest about their mistake. Try canned pumpkin for his stomache.
  6. Cathy I live right near by so if you need anything let me know. He is in good hands where he is safe and being cared for. We all know what you mean being home and not having our companions with us. Much too quiet...
  7. I don't take mine in any more for these minor things. Although one of zims lacerations did take quite a while to heal like 4weeks but you cannot even tell she had an injury.
  8. Your dog sounds like Zims child! in the beginning she tried to rule the house. I went to obedience classes & NILIF. Zim had to work for everything she got food treats toys. It worked quite well for her. She still growls quite a bit but I just ignore her now. I would also not let your dog near any children no matter what until you figure this out. Best of luck.
  9. Barbara I am sorry to read this. He was very lucky to have landed with Michael your mom & then you. He seemed like a laid back type of guy. Sorry again
  10. both my two have terrible gi issues with this antibiotic. so bad that the vet labeled their charts not to use it going forward. every dog is different though. maybe try it with some plain yogurt.
  11. came home from a hair cut & zim has a nice gash on her rump. remembered reading this thread recently; where do you get this manuka honey? grocery store?
  12. Geez I did not know dogs got IC? Zim's urination is not from pain; it only causes pain when I have to keep cleaning it up
  13. Gabapentin for urinary issues? Can you tell me more? I come home quite frequently to a puddle from Zim. She had a big workup this past winter which revealed it was behavioral. (No big suprise) No one ever offered me gabapentin.
  14. Can you have the lymph node slides be sent to OSU for a 2nd opinion. It is not a question of if it is a lymph node but if it is benign or malignant (ie cancer).
  15. Where do you get V biotene? Petco/petsmart?
  16. A two year old greyhound.Batten down the hatches. She is going to be lively!!! Congratulations. Very excited for you
  17. I feel your pain. I waited almost a year before bringing home my 1st grey. I had no dog experience; the dog had a broken leg, was not crate or house trained walked poorly on the leash, had a high prey drive. I was totally overwhelmed cried for days & finally returned her. I really wanted a greyhound so I kept looking. I then went back & got my 2nd (who had major behavior issues) but I stuck it out & 8 years later she is still here. I adopted a 2nd 5 years ago. Sometimes the 1st time around is overwhelming. No shame in returning the dog. I agree with others an older dog may be more suitable.
  18. No more NSAID for Akon. Next time give him the good stuff like Ultram!!
  19. I know one in Framingham which came highly recommended although it did nothing for my greyhound.
  20. If the swelling was not there before & it is causing pain then you need an xray? How old is the dog?
  21. Both girls. Patches has always drank a lot since the day I brought her home,no change there. Zim takes rimadyl from time to time. Maybe it is a side effect?
  22. Over the past 2-3 months I come to a large amount of urine in the kitchen. They both had a senior panel this past fall as part of their physical. How do you determine which one is having the accidents. I assume a diabetes was done as part of the recent labs.
  23. Did you speak to sutton if there is another vet who may do this? I knowdr jill is gone but someone else may be able to help.
  24. Greyt news Melissa. He's a strong dog.
  25. So funny you asked. My cousin made the comment just the other day. "your dogs don't chew their food they inhale"
