  1. You need a trip to the vet for xrays. This is how my Lexie presented with OS.
  2. Jen you were posting at the same time as me. Dr Jill is not there? Do you know where she went?
  3. Sutton Animal Hospital. I know it's far away but well worth the trip. As a matter of fact I'm bringing Patches down there tomorrow for her dental. It is an hour trip each way for me but they know greyhounds very well. Their cost are very fair.

    Sari

Although upsetting thank you for reminding us of this beautiful girl.
  5. Patches broke her tail. It was at a 45 degree ankle & the bone (cartildge) was sticking out. The vet wanted to amputate but I opted for splinting instead. He did an excellent; I went in every 2 weeks for a splint change & it healed up nicely. Every case is different though.
  6. Sorry to hear one of your boys is not feeling well again. They are very lucky to have you as their mother. I'm not sure I could manage all that. At this point I would be going the holistic route. Hopefully you'll get a good response. Zim & Pathches send
  7. Barbara I went through this with Zim when I firs got her. My 1st vet told me she had kidney failure & had to be on the low protein diet. Well after 6 months of this diet & Zim having constant diarrhea I posted here & did some research. Stopped the diet learning that this was normal for a greyhound. I don't even have it checked anymore. As she is now getting older I will have checked again at some point in the future.

    Zim's Bff

My friends English Yellow Lab name Smaxie went to the rainbow bridge this morning. She was 12 1/2 years old & had her since a puppy. She was the only dog I would ever trust completely with children & she helped make Zim a better dog (and boy did she need the help!!). She was the most kind happy dog I have ever met. My friend has gone through a lot of personal stuff in the last 5 years so I've had the honor of having Smaxie for many sleep overs. I also felt better knowing they all (Zim, Patches & Smaxie) kept each other company. She truely was Zim's BFF. Rest in peace Smaxie; you were the best.
  9. I can't stop crying reading all these post & looking at all the pictures of barking QM. I just cannot imagine how you feel. As I mentioned in my PM if you need anything let me know.
  10. I use pumpkin straight from the can on top of dry kibble with 1 immodium & this usually works for my 2 right away. Only if it is persitant that I move on the rice with boiled chicken. Zim had chronic diarrhea on & off when I first brought her home. This regimen worked well for her.
  11. Yes it can; although your grey is young which is in his favor. You need an xray as mentioned above.
  12. I'm confused. If its in the bone wouldn't Dodge need a bone biopsy? When I went through this with Lexi I was told that the biopsy was painful & therefore opted not to do it. Forgot to add sorry that this is happening to Dodge. As others have said we've all gone through it & lord knows it is not easy.
  13. I forget. Is the working diagnosis inflammatory bowel disease. Did the previous u/s show anything?
  14. You did all you could. Just like others on the Amber Alert site. I wish you some peace in the future.
  15. Geez your plate is full. Taking it one day at a time seems like the logcial thing to do. Your in our thoughts
  16. I 2nd the canned pumpkin. I put a tablespoon mixed in with kibble or rice. It sounds like he is not feeling well & tha's why he soiled his crate. Poor guy
  17. Geez that was fast. I am so sorry.
  18. Is there anyway you or your husband can take him to work? Maybe a change of scenary? Once his foot heals some regular walking may brighten his spritis.
  19. I think it is a fairly common problem. I had 1 that got motion sickness; did not really find ginger did much anything. You may try to do a search on here & see what others have tried.
  20. If you have a local Banfield they offer a free walk in clinic for vaccines & then you get the script for heartguard. If they dogs are not due for shots call & speak with them if you can just bring them in for heartguard testing & then get the script. I know some people on here don't like Banfields but everytime I'm used them I've been very happy.
  21. That is what I was thinking. Can he have pumpkin fresh from the can or metatmucil added?
  22. I 2nd Dr. Jill at Sutton Animal Hospital. It's over an hour from me but I have used her office for dentals & 2nd opinions and always been pleased.
  23. I went through this 2 years ago with Lexi. A greyhound experienced vet who I went to for a 2nd opinion stated it best. "If your not going to amputate than you have to have the dog put to sleep". The pain is too much. She was PTS soon after.
  24. 15 1/2!!!! Holy Cow. No advice just so excited to see that age.....
  25. Patches does the same thing but she barfs those small pieces up 24-48 hours later. I'm trying now just to buy ones that are round with smooth edges.
