  1. Good advice above. My greys lead a sheltered life. I never left them near any dog unless they have been introduced multiple times. And in a situation like this (I have used the washing center like you) I muzzle all the time. Sorry this happened. Hopefully just an isolated incident.
  2. I don't know why but this name just cracks me up.
  3. I asked Dr Poole (I think that is his name) via a Zoom conference said this was not a good idea. The dogs can end up bloody diarrhea and get very sick. That's how I understood it.
  4. You'll be ok. I cried so much with my first; some of the same issues. Resource guarding, statue on walks except Zim would completely lay down & refuse to move, refusing to get out of the car, refusing to get in the car. I had a behaviorist come to the house & did the good canine citizen which was helpful. Also the NILIF worked well for me with the clicker also. After about 2 years things settled down. Her issues never went away I just learned to manage them better. She growled at me about certain things until she passed!!! It will get better. The other thing is I never ever let her near any children.
  5. Still seems weird to read this. When I first adopted there were so many available. Makes me sort of sad for people who never got the chance to adopt the best breed.
  6. Oh now I know. Frontline adds tick protection.
  7. Jen 3 negatives is great. Mackenley would have one; stay on AM test a month or so later and positive again. I agree the Drontal is terrible. She does not feel well after her dosing. I only give AM; no frontline. It seems like duplication to me. Am I incorrect??
  8. Ova & parasite & antigen negative!! Now on Advantage monthly & stool in 3 months. At least this gives me time to save the $$ for the testing and meds.
  9. Dropped off another (I lost count) stool this morning. Has been on & off Drontal for over a year. Consistently on the Advantage. We shall see.
  10. There are no adoptable greyhounds in all of Florida? Serious question.
  11. Don't give up. Excellent advice above.. My first bite me several times in the beginning. Nothing in life is free - you can google it with clicker training was a life saver. Please keep the dog away from any guests until this is sorted out. I never let Zim near anybody but this was easy for me since no one ever visits!!
  12. My German Shepard does this to the Greyhound. Necking, biting at her skinny long legs. Its all play but if it starts to escalate one "knock it off" and it stops. I'd be a little worried with whippets of skin tears and such.
  13. Just wanted to say hello. Greyhound owner in Metrowest also!! Glad she is home where she belongs.
  14. Following. I just asked Dr Poling this question via zoom. What if I opt not to treat. If I understood him correctly they can have inflammatory bowel, bleed and lots of GI issues. I have been treating for a year next month. No blood no worms ever noted which I guess is good reading the above posts.
  15. Can you try to Rover app? Ask the vets office if anybody dog sits? I also live in metro west - framingham
  16. I camped in a pop up with Maya & now Mackenley. Mackenley has trouble peeing & pooping due to anxiety but otherwise is fine. She is never left unattended and when outside attached to my or in her crate.
  17. I believe its the week of school vacation. Too many other people off work so will have to miss this year. But really enjoyed this in the past.
  18. Can you talk to your vet about an SSRI like prozac. My new girl is the same but not to that degree. Hates to go outside/leave my home; lays on the bed all day but no accidents in the house. Oops just caught the tail end of your post. Can the dose be adjusted??
  19. OMG what a blessing she is!! Patches made it to 15 year & 1 month. Never needed any meds at all. But it sounds like your doing the best you can for her.
  20. I'm still young but my have a bad back. Patches lived till 15 and I could barely get her in & out of the car. As stated above I would call on my neighbors to help. I tried to adopt a whippet but it was nearly impossible for me. Very few around and then told I work long hours (typical 8 hours per day). Luckily I have a 3 year old greyhound right now so lifting is not an issue but I completely get what you are going through. I just can't imagine having any other breed.
  21. Not really familiar with this test but does it take into consideration about greyhounds and their muscle mass??
  22. You can see it in her eyes how much more relaxed confident she is!!
  23. DES helped somewhat in my 13 year old girl (passed april 2021) Not a whole lot though. No obvious side effects. Did have to have a CBC when 1st starting it.
