  1. He just looks like a big boy to me. It's hard to tell completely from the pictures.
  2. Zim had diarrhea for quite awhile due to nerves when she first came home. I agree with adding a little kibble to his regimen. Pumpkin right from the can like a tablespoon & some white rice should help.
  3. Thank you for posting this. Do we know about any of the hounds that survived? Greyhound or otherwise?
  4. At this point I think you coud write a book about greyhounds & cancer & spooky greys too. Hershey is very lucky to have such a caring family taking such good care of him. We're hoping to make it on Sunday also.
  5. My vet gives me the option to test or not knowing that I give it all year long. She leaves it up to me.
  6. Zim has always done this. Doesn't seem like a problem to me. Maybe carry a paper bag & try to get your grey to have his final poop on that. That way your neighbors see you are making the effort.
  7. I agree wtih above. I think because their so thin skinned a bite will look worse than it really is. I pulled one off my girl last week & immediatley pulled ou the Frontline.
  8. Hi & welcome from Natick with 2 greys here. Lots of things to do with your dog on this site. Be sure to check the Events section.
  9. I drove an hour each way for Patches recent dental; so yes I took the day off (I made good use of my time though; shampooed all my rugs ) She needed antibiotics before & after which is no big deal. They told me she may or may not need teeth pulled; turned out she did NOT. She had more gas driving there in the morning than after the procedure. She was groggy for 2 hours after but fine after that. Merlin will be fine too!!
  10. I've Zim 4 years. She is so healthy that I just started bringing her to Banfield for yearly shots & heartworm testing. Patch came to me last year so I brought her to my usual vet. But if she stays healthy too I will just go back to Banfield for her annual shots. It's just so much cheaper. My regular vet was going to charge $1000 for a dental; I brought her yesterday to a vet that my adoption group uses & paid $250. As long as you know your dogs history I think it's fine to use different places.
  11. We are all very lucky to have Dr. Coutu available to us. Although most people don't get good news at least we (or at least me) can feel confident in the decision making process that goes along with taking good care of our dogs. He really seems to be an expert in his field. So glad your news was good
  12. Jen when Patches broke her tail it was near the end of the tail but the vet wrapped from top of tail to the end. We kept it on for 2 weeks before it was taken off. Checked in 2 weeks then back on again for another 2-3. It healed up nice & she could not get at it to lick.
  13. Being that age is it possible he had a stroke. I would think a vet visit is needed.
  14. I would at least call the emergency vet & ask. Since it involves the neck area you may want to bring her in.
  15. Would you get that large amount of bruising with a bug bite? Wouldn't there just be a large amount of swelling like a local allergic reaction? Must have been some big bug By the picutures & history it seems like a muscle injury but I'm not a vet. I'm glad things are getting better & that is all that matters.
  16. Patches did the same thing. She had diarrhea all over my bonus room. Luckily its vinyl flooring so it was easy to clean up but she did not feel well for a few day after her shots. You could separate them over time the next time but I would try to change her diet around vaccine time to help.
  17. Patches is getting her dental next month. When I went for the consultation they gave me a script for Amoxicillin. The total vet visit including the script was $50.00. It should be about $10.00 for the meds.
  18. So sorry to read this post. I have been in your shoes. I went to Wendy's for their $1.00 cheese burgers several times per week when Lexi was diagnosed. My other grey could not figure out why were not getting any more treats after Lexi passed away Spend as much time as you can with Scooter. Thank you for taking in a senior.
  19. I'm also near by (Natick). If you need anything; help with your other greys just let me know. I was in your shoes last year at this time. When they are limping & there is ice on the ground it makes it extremely difficult.
  20. Pat, I purchased & paid in full the ASPCA one last summer. It took them over 6 weeks to get the policy out. I called multiple times to get the policy sent to me so I could review it. Finally I gave up & requested a full refund. Had to call several times to get my card reimbursed. I finally got the 2 polices AFTER I cancelled the contract. If that's how they handled a new customer I figured trying to file a claim would be impossible. Hope this helps. Patty
  21. Thanks for the description. I give you credit for picking up on something so subltle. Not sure I would have. But you have more experience I'm sure with this breed. It's always good to learn something new for our hounds sake.
  22. How did you know anything was wrong or was it picked up on a routine exam?
  23. I'm sorry Zim & Patches never got to meet James. But they sure do like Bonanza......
