  1. I've forgotten is he on prednisone? That usually helps with appetite.

    Klem

Barbara I am so sorry & suprised. I knew Klem had issues with his GI tract but not with L-S. I know it's been difficult getting the dogs out this year with all the ice. I know how hard it is making this decision but in the end he is at peace now & resting well. Hope to see you & Rocky soon.
  3. Can you ask your vet who did the original biopsy that was + for lymphoma to send this sample/slide to some place else for a 2nd opinion. Does OSU do this sort of stuff?
  4. Oh Melissa I'm just seeing this. Could they do something less invasive like an ultraound instead of a scope - I'm just guessing here. You always make the right decision for your boys. Can they consult with Dr. Jill in Sutton Animal Hospital?
  5. Maybe you could try him on some Pepcid/prilosec to help his stomach. Will he eat yogurt?
  6. Jen if it comes to QM needing anesthesia I would highly suggest Sutton Animal Hospital. Dr. Jill & her colleage are very experienced with greyhounds as you know. It's hard to tell but maybe some antibiotics will help clear that up nicely. Merry Christmas by the way!!
  7. Although this vet does not sound like he has a good "beside manner" at least he is aware that greyhounds are predisposed to osteosarcoma. When I brought Lexi in when she was limping I had to convince my vet to take an xrays. She wanted to send me home on rimadyl without finding out the cause. She was quite suprised when the xray came back with cancer. I hope it turns out to be nothing but muscle.
  8. Can you hold off on the chemo until this gets sorted out? I'm sorry this is happening to Polli (or any dog for that matter). I know how hard it can be having gone through it.
  9. If he just had some trauma (albeit it is on a different spot) maybe is a hematoma. That is a lump filled with blood that takes a long time to resolve. Has it gotten bigger or smaller since you first noticed it?
  10. My heart just sank when I read this. I'm sure you've already done this but have you checked her paws? Dear lord I hope it's nothing....
  11. Ask about Gabapentin & Tramadol. They are both pain meds but in a different class then the previcox. Be sure she has food in her tummy with these meds.
  12. I am deeply sorry for your loss. You must be feeling many emotions right now. It all seem to happen so fast. I hope you find some peace in the weeks to come that you did everything you possible could.
  13. You absolutely did the right thing. The group will work on getting the seizures under control & find a home where maybe his human's are around more often. They do exist. Since you have a 9 year old maybe you could try fostering an older dog which seem to always be around. Best of luck but you made a good decision.
  14. She looks to be doing great. One question she seems to be using her neck a lot to walk & get around. Does this get better has the other 3 legs get stronger? Did the vet say anything about this. I'm just curious.
  15. Wonderful news. Sound like you have a very good vet. Zim & Patches say hello
  16. Can you give the rectal valium as soon as he starts the early signs to prevent the full grand mal seizure? Almost like trying to take meds early to prevent a migraine. Although I suppose the valium knocks him out. Good luck to you & your family.
  17. Candles eaten here too & no problem. It was a small one though if I recall.
  18. I'll just through one more group into the mix. Greyhound Rescue of New England which is in Mendon, Mass. Greyhoundrescuene.org. They too are a smaller group & are having a reunion in September. Check out their web site for dates & some lovely dogs Best of luck.
  19. I cannot believe I am writing this (because I think it is the most over diagnosed disease know) but has anybody done a lyme/tick titer? Also if it persisted I would get repeat shoulder films & send them to a specialist in your area for a 2nd opinion.
  20. They sell scented poop bags; see I've had Zim for 4 years & you learn something new everyday. I must get some
  21. When I went through this with Lexi my vet emailed the films to OSU. It took Dr. Couto over 2 weeks to get back to me (via email). By then I had already gotten a 2nd opinion & new what we were dealing with (sadly not good). It was nice that all 3 vets who looked at the films came to the exact same conclusion so nothing else needed to be done. I think the man probably travels quite a bit so he does what he can.
  22. My Lexi was truely sick with OS & she always had a tail wagging to greet me & getting ready for walks (which were painful for her) so yes I do think if they are sick their tolerance is way better than any human. I may have missed some previous threads have you tried different foods.
  23. I am crying my eyes out right now. You are in my thoughts; we all know how difficult it is.
  24. Wasn't someone on this site that is a distrubuter? I'm like to try some also.
  25. Is it possible this is something in his central nervous system. Maybe strokes (or TIA in humans). Does not sound like seizures if he is awake & alert thoughout these. Do dogs get neuropathy? Maybe try Neurontin next? These are just guesses I may add. Keep up updated.
