  1. My deepest sympathy about True. I met you guys once & she was a lovely beautiful dog. All medications have their risks & benefits.
  2. Can someone suggest somethng other than marrow or knuckle bones for plaque. My 2nd grey loves them but then she gets a very upset stomach & severe diarrhea. The greenies do nothing & then my other grey pukes them up. (sorry to be so graphic). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  3. I'm not a vet but I'm guessing thte fluids would need to be IV to help keep the kidney's flushed & not working so hard when she gets the Amikacin. Not sure if SQ fluids would do the same thing. Keeping my fingers crossed for a full recovery.
  4. Zim ate entire bunch of bananas peels & all when I 1st got her. Left only the stems. She had no ill side effects. Except now she wont eat a bananna if her life depended on it
  5. this is what zim had a few months back. er vet diagnsoed with herniated disk in her neck. we have tramadolol & rimadyl for pain when needed. went to a doggy chiropractor - did nothing.
  6. God bless his family & you for fostering him. They must feel very frustrated.
  7. Jen sorry to hear Ducky is not feeling well but glad he is home from the hospital. I pill Zim from time to time. I'm happy to come over & help if need be but maybe you have figured it out by now.
  8. Boy I was sad to see this thread. He also was one of my favorites. You had some engaging stories here on GT. You are in my thoughts today.

    Holly

Holly & Bella would want you to forgive yourself; although to me forgiveness is not needed. You took care of Holly to the best of our ability.
  10. What is a smordle nodule or GME? I'm not familar with these terms. Zim is still in agony on rimydayl & tramadol. Now to top it off she is having voluminous diarrhea. She feels so miserable. Anybody out there actually have the surgery? Any input would be appreciated. In the back of my mind I keep feeling like she has OS but xrays back in 9/2010 were negative.
  11. Zim is experiencing terrible neck & leg pain. 2 vets think she has a herniated disk in her neck. She is currently on 2 pain meds & still is in pain although much better then the weekend. Spoke to my vet today who mentioned if she has continued pain she may need neck surgery to release the pressure on the nerve. Anybody gone through this? It's the last option in my mind but she cannot continue in pain like this.
  12. Lexi began limping & non weight bearing for 1-2 days before I brought her in. (although she had other signs she was sick) 1 set of xrays showed the lesion. My vet diagnsoed it right away. I just had Zim a few months ago for the same thing & the same vet did xrays & did not see anything. I trust her opinion since she was spot on with Lexi. Keeping fingers crossed for you.
  13. Zim's had that happen a few times after vaccines. Probably just a hematoma -small pooling of blood under the skin/fur. Usually nothing to worry about.
  14. In the beginning Zim would poop in the house when I would leave. She just was very anxious. I 2nd the kong idea. It was a life saver for me & her. Hang in there it will get better.
  15. I can only imagine what people in the waiting room were thinking with all those greys
  16. It never would have occured to me to take a picutre of that
  17. I put Zim through a battery of tests when I 1st got her due to this same issue. Cr=2.0. I specifically asked my vet if it was related to the breed & he said no. I spent $$$ on a KD diet. After much research on my own (Dr Stack/Greyhound gang) I realized this can be normal for the breed. I doubt I could have ever gotten my money back. I transferred to a different vet right away. Spartan seems to be on the right track & hopefully will conitnue in the future.
  18. Exact same thing happend here when I had a foster. I checked all 12 paws & nothing was missing. Maybe they shed them from time to time. No blood or anything.
  19. Patches snores very lightly. My friends yellow lab snored like a human but she was very overweight.
  20. From reading your post it seems to me that Zero has now become quite comfortable in your home (which is a good thing) but now thinks he owns it. I would suggest no couch or furniture priviledges. I would also suggest an obedience class & Nothing in Life is Free. I had to practice this with Zim for over a year before things settled down here. Zim is also the type of dog that you have to exchange (ie bribe) with food to get her to do certain things. I only physically move her if she is muzzled - she will bite. I know how upsetting this can be.
  21. Zim guards her puke. I found out the hard way with a bite (not serious). Now when she gets sick I just wait till she walks away to clean it up. I have tile & old carpeting. I figure if she eats it again (which she has done) she is just cleaning up after herself
  22. Pat sorry to read this. It might be worth a call to Sutton Animal Hospital. Dr Jill is gone now but her associate seems excellent also. They see a lot of greyhounds there. Patty
  23. That can be a standard dose for human's. Not sure about dogs but its a pretty safe drug. He should be fine. Have a happy T day today with your crew.
  24. Geez I'm missing a mouth guard ( I had 2) never thought it was one of the dogs
