  2. A friend who stays at the Atlantic Oceanside got a notice that all will be the same for the greyhound people at the AO. New owners are honoring reservations and rates. In future it will be run together ( somehow ) with the Beach House management. The corp that bought the Beach House ,bought the Atlantic Oceanside. When they open for the season I suggest calling to confirm.

  9. I hope he is getting back to normal. Gene has afib, and it can happen anytime. At gig we spent 1 whole day in the ER. Let us know how he is doing.
  10. If you are staying in the Eisenhower please be aware all dogs walking in the halls have to wear muzzles. Due to a mishap last year this is the new ruling. It is posted on FB GIG. Also dogs in the potty area must be muzzled. If you don't bring a muzzle everyone will be in a frenzy to buy one. I am not staying there, just posting to update info.
  11. Google cbd and read about how it works and some of the results. My vet also prescribes it. It works on pain also. My whippet has arthritis and it helps her. First start with your vet.
  12. I also do straight ivomec for many years. If dosed correctly there should be no problem. It is given in minute ( small) amount. My 16 yr 4 month old whippet sees better then I. Her hearing not so good but eyes are super.
  13. Have you considered cdb? My 16 yr and 4 month old whippet is doing much better now that I am giving it to her. Almost no sundowning, eating better, and actually comes to me to get scratched and neck rubs. She comes back to door after peeing, sometimes she walks around but seems more with it. We have to keep prompting her to eat but she eats on her own. Her eyes are more alert to us and she wants to kinda gallop some when in yard. It's not a cure but certinly gave her a more meaningful life.
  14. My new dog tested negative for worms. I thought she just was not healthy looking and not gaining. I purchased panacure from tractor supply and dosed her 3 days. Worms came out. And yet her stools tested negative. Another dog has not had good stools for about a year. We changed food, did pepcid, you name it we tried. When we dosed new dog we dosed her, and now her stools are picture perfect stools. Worms can fool you and the Dr. The 1 stool you take to dr, may be clear. We dosed new dog 3 days every 2 weeks, 3 times. She is healthier looking, hair great, gaining, no gurgles in stomach. Worms was the answer.
  15. We have to leave Sun morning. We have a long haul home. Have always left Sun. If I have not bought what I want Fri or Sat, I won't buy it Sun. I agree with everything Trish wrote. If there are day trippers will it offset costs for the vendors staying another night. Or, traveling all night or farther into Monday????
  16. Everyone at the Sleep Inn is opening for business Thurs. morning ?
  17. Emma my Whippet, my soul mate hound crossed over August 11. The mitral value and CHF finally won. You can fight this disease, but it always wins. At age 7 cardiologist diagnosed mirtal valve and said she has 6 mo to 1 year. We did everything possible, keeping track of her stats each day, changing meds and doses as needed, X-ray's, blood work, the disease won. Emma was a fighter, instead of 1year, we got 5 years. She was 2 months short of 12 years old. She was her usual self that evening. 5 a.m. she came to my bedside and collapsed. I knew she was dying. I held her, told her how much we love her, and had to watch her die. The cords in her heart finally broke, no blood with oxygen was pumping through. She was gone but we saw her heart pumping in her rib cage for about 1 minute. We are broken, devastated. In the end her heart kept beating, but was broken. We love these hounds so very much, they give is their life, total love, and take care of us emotionally. Emma was very special, she was here to get me through some really rough times. We love Dolly, Fergie and Hope dearly but Emma fighting for her life so hard for 5 years became my little miracle everyday. Dolly just had her 15th birthday last week, doing great for her age, but we know her time is limited. Parting with them is the hardest, most painful, devastating thing in my life. Run free my sweet Emma. 24 pounds of total love. My life companion, travel buddy, work companion therapy dog, emotional support, my everything.
  18. Some old dogs I have had, not all old dogs, wander at night. It is a old dog mind, brain thing. In the middle of the night they walk around like they are confused, or don't know what time it is and that they should be sleeping. They are fine during the day. One almost 16 years old, did it every night, I finally put a crate on our bedroom, covered her up and she slept every night. It ended the confusion. I now have a old girl 2 months from 15 years old that is wandering around 4 or 5 in morning. She will be crated soon. They don't mind it, at least mine, it gives them direction. Ends the confusion.
  19. I have a whippet on it plus other meds for 4 years now. Cardiologist is impressed how well she is doing. I figure I have no other choice. It's a nasty price to pay but she is alive and ok. That's how I convince myself every time I pay. Love her so I pay. He gave her 6 mo to 1 year , she was 7 yr. She turns 11 in Oct !!!!! I have been blessed so far.
  20. I was told Vetmedin is a canine heart prescription that can only be bought through a vet.
  21. I have a question about the chicken and rice. What is the difference if you bake or boil, the chicken breast ? Baking without the skin.boiling without the skin. Fat removed both ways.it always says boiled.
  22. I was told you have to be careful because you can get Giardia from the poo. Cleaning or,touching it accidently.
  23. I have used des on 2 of my hounds. 1 was a whippet that died at 16 years old. She used des to her last days with no side affects. I would not use Proin, never. Des controlled her leaking extremely well.
  24. Tricia and Burke, so very sorry to read that Murray has left this earth. There are no words to express how our hearts feel. Having been at that place many times I understand the pain and hole that is left in your life. It is heartbreaking knowing you cannot, fix them anymore. When I knew we were going living the last month of our Ashley's life was not easy. You want each day to last hours more. Then you know it is time to free them of this world. Having been there 13 times does not make it any easier. The more you love the harder it gets. God be with you now and help you and Murray, run free and healthy.
  25. My Whippets get 1/2 cup morning and night. They eat NutraSource grain free . they weigh average 25 to 28 pounds. 4 of them. A few homemade treats also. They are doing great and maintain a perfect Wright.
