PattyE
We attended the 2019 Heart of America Greyhound Gathering in Abilene this past weekend. Jaxson won a trophy for being the youngest greyhound there. He is 25 months. We have only had him a month and this was his first road trip. It was 13 hours each way in an uncomfortable car. He handled the car ride better than I did. I think he enjoyed the motel more than the event, but he did enjoy meeting all the other greyhounds. The last time I attended this event in 2014, my Scout won a trophy for Senior Queen. GreyPoopon
Good job Jaxson! The trophy is great, but the real accomplishment is how you handled everything. There were a few times when noises startled him at the event. One time he was asleep and a video came on with loud music. That scared him. I thought the rooing at the end might scare him but he just looked around and did not participate. He loved the motel room because he had a lot of room to chase his ball. The ball is his favorite toy. He let me know last night that he is ready to hit the road again. We were out walking and he kept trying to get me to take him to the car. He put his nose under my hand and directed me towards the car. He then sniffed the door handle. My husband said he did the same thing to him. He needs to learn to get in the backseat without help. He did it once and then he fell on his butt. Yes, he jumped short and he fell on his butt and his back legs went under the car. It was quite funny to see but he ended up with a cut on his butt. I helped him after that because I did not want him to show up to the event with a road rash butt. boopieface
Hi Patty! I missed seeing you. I used to have Scout’s sister Delicate Halise (Ziva)! I was there with my two boys. One won the King but he was freaked out by the noise so he was back at the hotel. I just got home to Massachusetts. Maybe I will see you next time. teri_d
Jill, Phog, dh and I drove over on Friday to spend the day. Wish I would have known others on the board were going to be there! Winning a trophy is so much fun for them! Many years ago our Ronnie was crowned queen 👸. Since we’ve moved to the kc area, I miss all of our halfway home friends - so good to see them all and catch up - especially teddy. I don’t believe there is any other single person who has done so much for greyhound adoption.
PattyE
The last time we were in 2014, my Scout was the senior queen. I found it funny that I had the senior queen and then the youngest. Jaxson likes being the youngest because I keep telling him he is a baby.
