Wonder
Lucky got his staples out last Tuesday and I just found one they missed. Very weird since I had a dream about them missing one. How do I get it out without a tool? Quote Kari and the pups.Run free sweet Hana 9/21/08-9/12/10. Batmom
You don't. Run him by the vet tomorrow and a tech should be able to do it in 3 seconds. Rickiesmom
Agree with Batmom. When Rickie had a skin flap on his leg several years ago he had over 100 staples - they missed 3. We went back and they got them out.
Busderpuddle
When I take staples out at work I use a small tool similar to a staple remover used for paper. You might try a butter knife if you can easily slide it under the staple without hurting Lucky. If not, take him in. Quote Karen
Wonder
Shoot, I was afraid you all were gonna say that. My poor boy He does not do well at the vet. I'm going to bring Passion to see if that helps at all. I have to carry my own therometer so I can keep checking his tems while we wait for a room Edited December 17, 2012 by Wonder Quote Kari and the pups.Run free sweet Hana 9/21/08-9/12/10. BauersMom
You can buy the tool online (I think I got mine on Amazon, actually) and do it yourself - I've done it, and it's pretty easy, if you're worried about bringing him in. Two out of three of Rickie's were under the skin by the time I found them, triggered by the one I could partially see. If it is still exposed, should be easy-peasy. krissn333
If you don't have a tool, just call and see if a tech can come out to the parking lot. They're familiar with his issues, I'd imagine they won't mind. Wish we lived closer, I'd just come bring you mine and get that thing out! carronstar
I was worried that would happen. They can be so hard to see. It took three sessions to remove them all from Aquitaine last year. I saw the final one the day after Christmas when it glinted as a bit of sun hit it while she was napping. I can tell you that there are online instructions as to how to do it, and a jewelry plier can be used but the thought of doing it alone was petrifying. I texted my vet on his vacation and he said to wait until he came home in a couple of days and he came up and took it out. She was not amused.
