We let FedX go today. Thank you for all your support through the past 1yr9months! FedX was an inspiration to me and he fought to the very end.

I'll check in form time to time but please don't hesitate to have anyone PM me that comes on this thread looking for info on palliative care information.

If anyone would like the little bit of gabapentin (~30 100mg capsules) or some Holley pharm. artemisinin (i got it from NeylasMom) please don't hesitate to PM me and i'll send it right out.

Pinky is off Piroxicam...it was causing her wrist to puff up with fluid. Off of it she's fine :dunno

I'm out of town for work, so my mom is at my house with my pups. It's so hard to be away from them!

I am so sorry to hear this devastating news. Just a couple days ago, I was telling someone about him.

FedX was a true hero in the war against osteo. He was and will continue to be a tremendous inspiration to others fighting this disease.

Need help ASAP guys...this morning, Pinky has runny eyes and the stuff is greenish yellow.

I just noticed that her legs and feet are really puffy...all three of them.

We stopped her Piroxicam on Monday because one of her wrists was swollen...she's still been getting her cytoxan though.

Thoughts? Experience??? I'm going to take her temp here in a minute.

They aren't quite sure what is causing the swelling and the fever, it could be multiple things. She has some protein in her urine and the doctor said that sometimes they'll get that edema in the legs from that, it could be neoplastic something or other where the cells in the body just start not cooperating, it could be that she does have an infection, even though her white count is normal. She said in dogs who are immune-compromised, the body may be TRYING to make more white cells but can't because of her cytoxan treatment.

So, we have Clavamox, prednisone, and tramadol.

Additionally, they took chest X-rays and found two good sized tumors. :( She says they don't look like mets though...they look more like primary lung tumors. She said guessing by the size of them, they've been there for a while. Pinky hasn't had any breathing issues or any coughing at all, which surprises me.

I'm not very good at reading X-rays of internal things, I'm much better with bones, but anyway, here are her X-rays...since she's not having any issues related to the lungs right now, I'm not really sure how I feel about those, or if anything can really be done with them, but, my primary concern is getting her feeling better right now so that's what I'm choosing to focus on.

Ok, so, I lied. I can't stop thinking about those tumors and what they're going to mean for the future, and how to know when it will be time to say goodbye...I sincerely hope that's not even something I have to think about for along while yet, but there's part of me feeling VERY afraid right now. :cry1

try not to think of it like that. They've probably been there for a long time and may not affect her for an even longer time. And think of it as any day you get with her is one more special day and it's a gift. That's how I kept my worst fears at bay as best I could. I didn't want Nube to feel my pain or fear either, he would pick up on it.

sending you more and more hugs. I just HATE this monster :( :(

Ugh-looking at the rads I do think the masses could be of concern because there are multiple ones. What dosage of pred did they start her on? Just wondering because if she already has a compromised immune system and a higher dose pred will drop her immune system further. I would definetly run all of this past OSU (send the images too).

She's started at 10mg every 12 hours, in 5 days we'll taper to every 24 hours, and so on.

I am of course concerned about the masses, but, what I meant was there's nothing I can do about those today, if even at all. I just want to get her feeling okay for the rest of the weekend. I have a feeling there really isn't anything we can do about the masses anyway, unfortunately :( other than hope that they don't start to compromise her quality of life too soon.

10mgs is a rather low dose--to suppress the immune system it would be a much higher dose. Hopefully, she will start to feel better throughout the weekend. There are things you can potentially do about the masses/mets----palladia is one. Definetly contact Couto and team. I would send the consult out now so, they will see it first thing Monday morning.

Hope your baby will start to feel better quickly.

Maybe you will find this helpful?

Kristin, good thoughts for Pinky and you. I second trying Palladia if you're up to it to try and fight those lung tumours. I really hate you're both going through this as Pinky is such a special girl.
