Sometimes hounds are just meant to be in your life, whether you now it or not. I was blessed with 11 1/2 years to share with Brookie as my girl. She's traveled far and wide with me. Brookie has been many things threw her life, a racer, a momma, a friend to many hounds who have stepped threw my doors and she has outlived just about all of them. She has been the "rabbit" end of the chase game with Cassie and Weenie, she was the friend to Augie when he was sick and ill, she was the mentor to Pooh and most of all she was my girl. My old lady, my crazy Brooka Wooka Woo girl. She fought the hardest longest fight I have ever experienced with a dog. She knew how hard it was going to be for me to say goodbye so she hung in as long as she could. The moment came when I knew it was time but yet, there sat Brookie being as strong as she could for her momma. Bright eyes and ears alert, basically saying, Momma, it's OK, I'm fine I'll keep trucking on for you. So not fair! Fairwell my old gal, my Princess as you had become, my life evolved around you and I'm lost now. May the sun always shine upon your face and warm your body, my you sleep on the fluffiest of clouds and may there be unlimited number of pigs ears for you. Oh how you loved those things May you once again play the poop and run game with Cassie and Weenie, may you walk with your buddie Augie again. My heart is broken, but just to have shared this journey with you, it was all worth it and I sure wish we could do it all again. Reading your incredibly beautiful and moving tribute, I can understand what it means to have a dog who is truly a soulmate. This is so heart breaking and I know that she is running free with her friends and with the angels. So many come and go in our life but there are ones that are so special that the grief is unbearable. Wonderful memories and knowing the love and life you shared will keep you going.
