For those of you who have not been following my other post Arizona (a.k.a. BooBoo) has been in a great deal of pain in her left hind leg since mid- February. X-rays at that time showed no masses, no arthritis but just a small amount of calcification between two discs. We treated her as if she had a pinched nerve or lumbar spinal stenosis. We put her on stronger and stronger pain med; she has had 2 chiropractic adjustments and thee acupuncture treatments as well as a Depo-Medrol injection. But she continued to have this anxious whine.

Something just didn't feel right so I took her to FV Animal Referral today to see an orthopedic specialist. They did a second X-ray and found hip cancer. She also has a great deal of pain in her spine so they are quite certain it has spread into her spine.

 

They sent us home with stronger pain meds. I will keep her with me until I feel it is time. She jumps and wags her tail and wants to go for walks so I think it is too soon to let her go. I will not keep her for long because that would be selfish.

 

Please think of us and send me the strength to know when the time is right. My heart is breaking.

I am sooo sorry to hear about her cancer! I am glad you "felt something wasnt' right ..." Listening to you "gut" is usually right.

 

The better and increased pain meds will, I am sure, help, and you just enjoy all the days you have with her!
