Hi Diane, I'll fetch that handsome Dodge a burger any time! Despite how yucky you were feeling I know it helped you to hear Dr Cuoto say Dodge looked good.

You're soooo sweet! :grouphug

Dodge doesn't seem to want to eat much at all. He'll hand feed...but then he acts like he's full and won't eat anymore. I think he has heartburn or acid indigestion. His poo is not watery...but more like ice cream soft serve. I've added some peas to his diet...and today I gave him some pumpkin...hopefully he'll firm up soon. Till then...it's extra trips outside. I'm not worried about motility anymore...he's getting around pretty good. He even got excited about the puppy next door...and went to the fence to sniff him out! I haven't seen him do a full out run yet....but he has trotted pretty quickly in the back yard...enough that I couldn't keep up by walking. LOL

I have a 4 PM vet appt for him today...new vet. This vet is the vet that helped me out when I was trying to find someone to do the surgery locally. I want to talk to him about a few things...get his thoughts and see what he says when I suggest some normal greyhound stuff to him.

Dodge's stools got better this AM....since he was moving around more and so on...I changed his OTC meds...and I added some pumpkin and baby food peas to the dog food...and this morning he had a soft formed stool finally.

He slowed down on eating chicken pieces...and is eating the canned evo still...which I am mixing in some Evo kibble into as well.

His vet appt went well (I can't remember if I reported here after the appt. or not)...the vet (Dr. Brinker) that he saw actually went to OSU and knows Dr. Couto. This is the same vet that contacted OSU when I wasn't getting anywhere with my reg. vet concerning amputation. I caught him up to date with what happened ...and also had his office ask my old vet office for his records. Dr. Brinker thinks that I'm doing everything that I can right now. We did talk about the corn on his back paw...it's not in the typical spot that usually causes pain...and is also not in a good location to be hulled. Which he has done for many dogs before in his office. I'm going to contact OSU to see if there's an ointment that is available...to remove the corn.

Dr. Brinker thinks that Dodge's stomach may have shrunken some...and that is whey he's not as hungry...and suggested feeding 3 times a day again....which I agree.

I so wish that Dr. Brinker could have done the surgery...he was the only vet that truly seemed to care...and also had no problem contacting OSU to gather more info about what was needed to the do the surgery right.

Wouldn't it be nice if all vets cared this much? As to why Dr. Brinker didn't do the surgery? He was going out of the country two days after he said he could do the surgery...and didn't feel good about doing the surgery and leaving so soon afterwards....so he gave me a referral to the specialist. He did the right thing...but I just wish the timing had been better so that he could have done the surgery on Dodge instead.

Oh....and another first for Dodge? Sniffing Foxy's butt and giving it the lick....I know...ewwwwww...but I gather Dodge enjoyed it...LOL

I read somewhere that Dr. Scholl's corn removal products are safe to use on dogs. You might want to try it.

So glad Dodge is doing better. :colgate

We were talking about this at Mtn Hounds in regards to corns. Try duct tape on it. I have heard people say that it works. Maddie does not have corns so I not had to use any methods for corn removal.

Glad to hear that Dodge is doing better

We've been following Dodge's amputation story (and Gyro's too) with much interest. I'm glad that they are both doing so well! We will certainly look back on these as knowledge gathered as we deal with Jamey's amp and anticipate him coming home. Thank you for all you've written!

Sorry for no updates the last few days....I ended up getting a sinus infection on the way to Mountain Hounds...am still getting over that when I got some stupid stomach bug that Greg decided that Paul and I should have as well. Ran a fever on Friday and Sat....and today I'm just starting to feel human again.

Dodge Baby is doing well. His insides are working on their own...although I'm adding pumpkin to his meals and some zantac as well to keep things going smooth. He's still only eating from my hand...which was hard when I was sick in bed the last few days...but I was able to get up and feed him..then go back to bed.

I'd like him to gain back a couple of pounds...but he looks good still. All in all...he seems to be back to my old Dodge...except for the hand feeding of course.

I'm on the way out in a few to get his food...and will take him so he can get some exercise.

I'm glad to hear he's doing well. Maybe soon he won't need to borrow your hand at meal times. :)

Dodge is doing fine with the amputation. He's limping on the back right leg though. Has been for a while...not sure if it's the small corn or my worst fear again.

I heard about propolis and bought some today and applied it with aloe. I'll do that a few times a day and see if it takes the corn away or not. I have an appointment with a holistic vet next week...to see what she thinks of the back right leg.

Please continue to keep Dodge in your thoughts and prayers. I have a lot going on right now in regards to my own personal life....but Dodge is weighing heavily on my mind too. I am just praying that it's the stupid corn or something else that is making him favor that leg.

Sending prayers and good thoughts for Dodge! Having dealt with a corn on Morgan's foot, I can tell you they sure don't have to be big to make them limp. Hopefully that's all it is.

I have tried Thera-Paws. One of the problems that I have with them is that because of the way that he's walking...within a very short amount of time...they are turned around and on wrong. We tried this when I was in SC in May (2 weeks after surgery) and we thought we had the right size...and on tight enough...but they turned. Last night I tried again with one of Snowie's Therapaws and the same thing happened.

I think what is happening is that because he's not walking correctly...it makes the Therapaw want to flip itself around a lot. It I found something that was the same all around ...maybe that would work, BUT...if it's not the corn...then wearing a regular Therapaws isn't going to help?

It's hard to explain what or how the therapaw is turning...but if you are just wearing socks and walk on the side of the foot...you'll notice the sock will want to move and shift around..that's whats happening when Dodge wears it. He isn't standing with his paw directly on the floor but at an angle.

I'm actually doing some research into Degenerative Neuropathy / Myopathy and see if this has something to do with the way he is walking and dragging his back right leg. :(
