gryhndsr4us
Clark was very reluctant to come down the stairs this morning. When he did come down he was limping. I called the vet and they worked him in this morning. The Xrays are not good. He is going back Monday for a bone biopsy. We are praying for fungus, but most likely it is Osteo. We were given Metacam for the pain. If it is Osteo we will not amputate, he just isn't a good candidate for that. HopeForHounds
See if your vet will do a fine needle of the bone instead of a punch biopsy. Dr Couto only does the fine needle, it gives them the cells they need for diagnosis and it is far less painful. Plus a punch biopsy will weeken the bone which can lead to a break. Prayers it is something else. Burpdog
Sending lots of prayers. Please--have him do a fine needle one. When I asked Glynis if she would have done anything different with Winslow the only thing was no bone biopsy. With the ones I've had, I've had the xrays read by a radiologist and no biopsy of any kind was necessary. iluvgreys
Oh no. Your poor baby. If you're not going to amputate, no need to do a biopsy. Fungal diseases can be detected via a blood test, titering for cocci if it's possibly Valley Fever. Has he been tested for TBD's? If he's still uncomfortable with just the Metacam, ask your vet about combining an NSAID with tramadol for more effective pain relief. BTW, if you get a prescription for tramadol, it's pretty inexpensive at Costco, Walmart, etc. Sending lots of prayers and light to you and your sweet boy.
