She had only been slightly limping for a few weeks but had just stopped putting any weight on that leg. Xrays showed osteosarcoma. Eva had come to me after an owner surrender. Flea-ridden, so much gunk in her ears you couldn't see the skin, horrible teeth. I gave her a Capstar and loaded her into my car. At our house she endured an outdoor bath in the cold, then let me pick the dying fleas off of her. Eva was eventually adopted to what looked like the perfect home.....but was not. It took some doing but our local group coordinator Barb, and animal control rescued her. She lived a good life at Barb's home. Though no one wanted to adopt an older dog, she was never lacking for love. Such a beautiful blue brindle girl. I know papers were never signed but Barb loved you as if they were and even though no one else seemed to want you, as far as Barb was concerned you could stay as long as you liked which as it turns out was forever.
