silverfish
Still a temp of 105. Lab work showed elevated WBC of 26,000. The vet is fairly confident this little girl was never spayed and this is closed pyometra. Surgery first thing in the morning. She's eating well, drinking, pottying and slathering everyone with kisses. I'll update everyone as soon as we hear back after surgery. Aaah! There you go. Not something you could have guessed, DeVon. Open pyo would have been too easy, wouldn't it? But closed, in a dog whose history is unknown, not so easy, especially when they're still looking bright and happy. In fact, I'd say kudos to you for recognising so quickly that she was so very ill. Getting her in this early probably doubles her chances of getting through the surgery. Sending good thoughts - update us when you can! Quote The plural of anecdote is not dataBrambleberry Greyhounds My Etsy Shop

ml529
At least they seem to know now what the issue is and she's on her way to getting sorted out Lots of good thoughts being sent from here I feel like an absolute cad right now. Bug has this small knot on her belly just like Skittle had (which was from a very bad spay job that got infected and the knot never went away), and I 'assumed' she had been spayed. The vet says it looks like an umbilical hernia, albeit the smallest one she's ever seen. Oh no, don't you dare start on yourself. There is no way on earth you could have known. You've done more for this little girl than so many people would have! She has a happy home and is loved by hundreds if not thousands of people and that is all your doing! So no beating yourself up allowed! Guest Tenderhearts
Miss Bug is out of surgery and recuperating very well! Here's the bizarre thing. There was absolutely no signs of pyometra whatsoever. However, once the surgery was over, her temperature was normal. The vet wants to keep her on IV antibiotics one more day and then she can come home tomorrow! ! Thank you thank you for all your prayers!!!!!!!!!!
