Guest greytmonty
I am sure you have tried lots of different foods for Misty. I hope she gets her appetite back. Does she like smelly things? I am thinking tuna or salmon in a can.

Rickiesmom
Potato pirogies - maybe with cheese or bacon if that's allowed? You can ignore the directions and just bake them for 20 minutes from frozen - they get toasted on the outside, soft inside. Cooled down, my pups love them. Even Picky Rickie. We are also having reasonable success right now with dehydrated sweet potatoes as treats.

Blaidd49
Medicating twice per week vs. upping the once per week dosage makes perfect sense. Because of the kidney issues you are between the rock and the hard place. Sending good vibes Misty's way Pam
queenwinniesmom
Claudia, you are doing everything you can for Misty because you love her so much. seeh2o
Oye, Claudia, what a catch 22. What is it on the kidney diet that she cannot eat? Can she eat stinky warm bacon and cooked chicken? I'll ask our nutritionist at work if she knows of any natural appetite stimulants. You and Misty are in my thoughts. Guest vahoundlover
Not the news we were hoping for I don't remember if this has been said before and with Misty's kidney issues might not be an option but I remember our vet telling us Buster must have his pill in something very fatty. She even said to use butter. Something about the fats and the absorption of the Lysodren.
NevadasMom
Not what I was hoping for but I have to say that Dr Stack's article on Cushings does say treatment will likely be twice a week. Yup....most dogs are treated twice a week. It's the safer way to do it. From my past experience you are right on track. Nevada & I went down this same road. 6 months from now it will seem like a piece of cake to you. The first year really stinks though.....Hugs to you. Connie, Misty is on the Hills KD diet and I'm using the NY to stimulate her appetite. If that doesn't do it, nothing will. Guest Winterwish
Claudia I'm sure you've tried Ensure, but if not, just want to mention that. and as an alternative there's also Clinicare which is the sams type of product but specifically for dogs. Maybe it would be more tasty for Misty? They sell it at my vet's office,so maybe you could get some at the vet? Was she able to try a few boiled shrimp? Sending hugs to that sweetie of yours!
