Guest tobinhr
A house without a greyhound is NOT a home. I bought a container from Sarah Regan Snavely last night. She's going to ship it Monday. I think I'll feel better when Mac is back home. We've gone from "NO MORE DOGS" to "YES, a dog....maybe..." to "Maybe a smaller breed?" to "We have the stuff for a greyhound" to "WE NEED A GREYHOUND." See? My bridge angel is already at work..... Jan

Guest TBSFlame
Our first greyhound was an only dog for 5 years. When he died I was heartbroken. DH and I hated to come home at night. For 5 years the first thing that met us when we opened the back door was that long pointy nose. We waited for 3 weeks and it was either get another greyhound (never even thought about another breed of dog) or move. I said it was to honor his memory and I could never love this new one as much. Guess what, I did love Beecher, just as much. Beecher did help heal our broken hearts. You will never be sorry if you adopt another one. BootsyCollins
I think your next greyhound should be named Cheese...get it...Mac 'n Cheese OMG I understand exactly how you feel. My house feels so empty without Argos in it. He hasn't even been gone a week and I am itching for another houndie to grace our halls. I feel slightly traitorous looking at other hounds so quickly, but I also feel that it is a tribute to Argos that he showed us such love and gave us such joy that we can't live without it. My heart goes out to you. I will be picking up Argos's ashes today, and we're having a memorial for him at his favorite park on Sunday. It will be so sad, but it will also be just what we need to heal our hearts and be able to open them to another dog. Sorry to Ally McBeal your thread. I know this wasn't about me. GreytNut
Mac sure will be missed, along with his "comments." Some people don't want another dog right away, and some people find that they heal better when they have a new friend to help them recover from their loss. It may be that he's hard at work finding you a friend. There are a lot of hounds who need one. See? My bridge angel is already at work..... Jan Jan, it never ceases to amaze me how much we think alike. When we talked about this, I just knew Mr. Mac Angel was already working his magic. When the time comes in our house, I just can't see too many days going by "sans greyhound". Sweetie and Spicy have opened up a big ol' space in our hearts for all the homeless greyhounds, even though our household can only handle two at a time right now. Gosh, there's a handful of kennel boys I'd love to see become a member of your family, but I know better than to ever name names! And when the time comes, I'd be honored (and Cully, too, I'll bet) to be a reference on your Application to Adopt which, I'm sure, will be a mere formality. I went and looked at Sarah Regan Snavely's online gallery again last night. Wow. Just wow. Amazing how she captures the feeling of greyhounds, both physically and emotionally, for me. Excellent choice to memorialize your heart dog (IMHO). Talk to you soon...
