Can you get the consultation moved up? Maybe if your vet called? Which surgeon?

They already got us in as early as they can.

Bay Area Hospital. They used to be on Edgebrook and it was a group of specialists - eye, ortho, etc., but they left there (which is also an emergency clinic at night) and moved to Fuqua. Dr. Aguille or Aguirre or something like that. I've got all my stuff printed out and will be ready with my questions.

Freddie is feeling very insecure right now so he has retreated to his safe place. Poor baby.

Mary, I am so sorry. Prayers and best wishes from me. I know everyone will be anxious to hear the results.

If he's feeling bad, his safe place (I assume the closet) is the best place for him.

From Wisconsin -- It's Nancy, Bob, Carla, June Bug and our newby Skorch.... along with Buffy. She's the little hound that meows.

Oh, Pam, you have made me feel so much better. I just checked the paperwork DH brought home and it is indeed Alexander Aguila.

How are their prices? They charged a lot for TJ's taliwhacker removal - about $1600. I'll do whatever it takes to make Freddie well, but I'm a little nervous about the cost.

Mary,

I thought the prices were high but fair. Actually my final cost was less than the original guote so my husband and I thought we got a deal! One of mine broke his leg in 3 places, and shattered an elbow running in our back yard. No one else would even consider anything but amputation, or PTS. Well, Dr. Aguila thought he could fix it and now almost 7 weeks out it is healing. He will always have a pronounced limp but will get along fine. The care at the hospital is unbelievable. I like the fact that your pet has someone sitting there with them throughout the night and they believe in pain control. Which was important to us since Sammy was screaming non stop. Dr. Aguila called me right before surgery started after he had Sammy under anethesia and x-rayed and all ready to go letting me know it was really really bad but that if I was willing he wanted to try. Sammy is only 6 and a fireball. He told me he would call me when surgery was over and 2 hours and 45 minutes later the phone rang and he told me he had just closed Sammy's leg and he would call me again to let me know how he was doing late that evening. And he did call. Dr. Aguila originally told me he would keep him for 2 nights but I picked him up 24hrs later b/c he was awake and moving around and already putting his leg down.

Dr. Aguila loves greys and like I said has a 12 year old. A week before I went in with Sammy his dog had been attacked by another dog and almost decapitated. His grey was going to be ok after lots of stitches. But you could just see the love and compassion in his eyes for his dog and this breed. I trusted him right then!

I will be thinking of you and Freddie. He will do fine.

Keep us posted Mary.
