  1. Interesting read. I have been debating about taking Biotin since I have type 2 diabetes.
  2. Only my girl Gracie would do that. Not often but enough to give me goosebumps.
  3. This article is about an online service offered by a veterinarian in Texas and the legal trouble he is now facing. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/06/09/vet-restructed-from-giving-advice-underscores-national-telemedicine-debate/?intcmp=latestnews
  4. Other than growing hair, have you as yet noticed any improvement in hind end weakness?
  5. I think the OP has an out of town trip this week so the clinic is keeping an eye on Asti.
  6. Please consider a consultation with Dr Couto. There is a fee ($120?) but well worth it to have him review all lab tests and vet reports. If he can't figure out what's going on he will reach out to other specialists. http://www.coutovetconsultants.com/for-ownersadopters/
  7. What are her platelet numbers? Greyhound-normal numbers are 80,000-200,000 per Dr Stack and 110,000-205,000 per Dr Couto. Those numbers are lower than Other Breeds' platelet counts.
  8. Ditto what Judy said. Do you have any Gas-X on hand just in case?
  9. Jeff, I can't view the Instagram page but have added Drew to the List.
  10. Is there a group local to her that you can refer her to?
  11. Heartguard Plus and the Seresto collar here. Gave up on Comfortis and later Trifexis due to episodes of vomiting and loose stool on the days given.
  12. Saying goodbye to the beautiful greyhounds and their friends who left us in June 2015. As you run with the wind send a caress to wipe our tears. Gone but never forgotten. Loved forever. Run free with those who have gone before you. Greet all those that will follow. Pink (Miss Pinky Baker) Declan Ciria Drew and Stan Niles Kelsie Lydia Disco Cody Chase Speedo Master Robin Mikey Chance Magnus Emma, the horse Star Nico Misty Sammi They'll always be with us, just slightly beyond the point that we can see with our eyes. In our heart, though, they'll be bright and clear, as they always were.
  13. Perhaps your Frenchie's barking gave a signal to your greyhound that he was annoyed. Then along comes the source of that annoyance for a sniff. Seems kinda dumb of the white fluffy's owner to approach and follow a dog that was barking at it. Hopefully the white fluffy's owner has learned a lesson too. Per your description, it didn't appear that your dog has ever been small dog aggressive. But on that day he became annoyed, aroused or overly stimulated and reacted. I agree with the others: do not muzzle, don't let your kids walk your greyhound, and even you should be on a higher level of alertness *just in case* when outside. I would not allow mixing with small breeds at a day care either.
  14. PUPPY!!!!!! I can smell Ruby's sweet puppy breath from here. Oh, wait, did she nibble on the wall? Still cute!
  15. It could possibly be lymphoma. Lumps similar to what you described popped up almost overnight on my Comet and Possum. Both boys were seniors. They were gone in less than 2 weeks. As 3greyjtjoys said, it could also be a salivary duct issue. Or an infection. Check other areas for swelling - see the image on this page: http://www.merckvetmanual.com/pethealth/dog_disorders_and_diseases/immune_disorders_of_dogs/immune_system_tumors_in_dogs.html
  16. Baby steps. Don't rush him into socializing just yet. Too many new places, too many new other dogs and too many new people too soon. I'd wait a few weeks until he's comfortable with you before heading out anywhere, unless it's a greyhound group meet. Making the crate a happy place is a good thing. Meeting the Boston terrier on his turf set him up for a bad encounter. Meeting outside, on leash, preferably walking will help, although the Boston may continue to be a bully. Clicker training is good. Do it when he's hungry so you really get his attention. When that "clicks" for him, try tossing a treat in the car and clicking. In out in out in out in out. Car rides should be to somewhere fun like a drive-thru for something yummy. Pacman will set his own time schedule for relaxing and learning you are his new human. We've had some here who walked right in unfazed to one who hid in the bedroom for months.
  17. I can see why it was so hard to say goodbye. Tess was a beauty.
  18. After only a month and a half everything is still very new for Kelly. So much new stimulation after kennel life limited to just greyhounds. I'd say give her more time to settle in before going on lots of outings. She's telling the other dogs she's uncomfortable - so listen to her.
  19. I am so sorry to hear this Bill. Farewell Richy................
  20. Read the section on Acute exertional rhabdomyloysis from here: http://retiredgreyhounds.info/forums/viewtopic.php?p=13605 •Dogs show distress after a race and exhibit pain when palpated over the back and hind limb muscles. •Urine may or may not be red-tinged,but will test positive for myoglobinuria. 21. She was meant to be with you. If only it could have been forever. You helped her become a happier, confident dog and a loving companion.
