  1. Check out Fruitables - they seem very, very benign. Here at least, they can be bought at most natually-inclined pet food stores as well as my vet clinic.
  2. My heartfelt sympathy to her foster family, who saw her blossom and who loved her.
  3. How very, awfully tragic. My heart goes out to you, Heather and the farmer, for whom this must have been truly awful and heart-rending as well.
  4. What a beautiful tribute to a very special girl I am so sorry for your loss.
  5. Judy, my heart is breaking for you and your family. May your pretty baby rest in peace.
  6. Rest in peace Carmon, you were a remarkable person and will live on in your work and in people's affection. My sincere sympathy to her husband and all who loved her.
  7. Jaynie, who is otherwise pretty bomb proof, is afraid of the vent hood over the stove. It's OK on the lowest setting, usually OK on the second setting if she's not on the nearest dog bed, but never OK on the highest setting (which is very loud). I don't know that it's the noise level - it never bothered anyone else - but poor Jaynie gets as far away from it as she can get and shakes. Needless to say, I virtually never use that setting.
  8. I don't know that it addresses breath, but there is a very, very safe product called Healthy Mouth that you can add to their drinking water that has been clinically proven to discourage plaque from adhering to teeth (it is approved by the VOHC). It turns the water green and you want to introduce it slowly. I began using it after their last dentals at the end of last year, and in combination with brushing, their teeth still look great. Jaynie has latent kidney issues and Healthy Mouth is safe for her. They've recently introduced gels, but I am sticking with the water additive product because it's so easy, and because I don't want to bug them too much on top of brushing. Because Arlie had particularly poor teeth, I also used Dentatreat on her food in the evening (because I brush in the AM and didn't want to remove the benefit of the Dentatreat).
  9. Many people are sharing your tears for Muffy, what a beautiful tribute. I am so sorry for your loss of such a beautiful girl.
  10. Assuming it's nothing medical, you might try putting a Wysong product called Dentatreat on her food. I found it helped a lot with Angel Arlie's breath in the early days especially. The board-certified dental surgeon I take the dogs to approved of the ingredients.
  11. Sometimes the best decisions are the hardest to make and keep, even when your heart tells you the path you have chosen is the right one. Godspeed Ranger. I am so sorry for your loss.
  12. Heather, I am so, so sorry. No matter how much time we have with them, it's never enough.
  13. So glad all went well! Now to focus on healing and getting her running on all 3 legs!! Please keep us updated on her progress!
  14. I am so sorry - you tried so hard to help Stella and make her well. She had the best possible home where she bloomed with trust and love. Rest in peace beautiful girl.
  15. We will be holding your precious Pinky in our thoughts and prayers. for you.

    Honey

What a lovely tribute to a very special girl. I am so sorry for your loss of Honey.
  17. We've gotten moo chews and all sorts of other dehydrated delectables from Awesome Paws - the dogs love them. Beef ones must be tougher than lamb because while they are a single chewing session treat, they do take awhile for the hounds to finish them. Angel Arlie was a particularly enthusiastic fan.
  18. Aggadore sounds like such an exceptional cat, and the exceptional ones hurt the most when they leave. I am so sorry for your loss.

    Kayla

Kayla was certainly one of the special ones. I am so, so sorry for your loss.
  20. I brought Arlie home today, where she belongs. So much love, joy, beauty and energy enclosed in such a small wooden box.
  21. I am so sorry for your loss of an exceptional girl, and the enormous hole she has left in your heart.
  22. Thank you for your words of comfort at this otherwise comfortless time. Our hearts are shattered, surrounded by reminders and memories of a beautiful soul taken much too soon. Stop whatever you are doing right this moment and go hug and love on each and every loved one within reach, hound and human, even if you did that just a moment ago. Spoil them a little extra. Take a million pictures. We did all these things. It's never enough, but it helps.

    Chase Is Gone

You gave Chase more love, care and spoiling in those 10 months than she had probably received in her entire life before. I am so sorry she wasn't with you longer, but she knew she was loved and left this world surrounded by it, as much as it hurt you. Rest in peace pretty lady.
  24. We had to let our beautiful girl go this evening, peacefully and without pain, to run free and whole again. Another perfect creature lost to osteosarcoma. There is so much more to tell you about her, but it will have to wait for another time.
