  1. That does sound odd. Does he have a fever?
  2. I'm guessing the "B" shot was buprenorphine, a pain killer. Unfortunately what vets often forget to tell people is that a common side effect of a buprenorphine shot is heavy panting. I hope your gorgeous Riley turns out to be okay. eta: I agree the evet should have xrayed.
  3. Spoil that poor sweetheart for me once she's awake enough to enjoy it.
  4. Words fail me. I am so so sorry.
  5. Beautiful sweethearts! for their dentals...
  6. Could be a cyst, could be nearly anything. Assuming it's only in the skin (meaning, not attached to underlying tissue or bone) I'd keep an eye on it for a while. If it changes (gets bigger, angrier, etc) I'd have it looked at by a vet.
  7. Outstanding update! Rest well, and recover quickly, beautiful ol' girlie.
  8. What a beautiful girlie. I am very sorry for your loss.
  9. I've been quietly following this thread, and can't stand any more to not barge in and say how happy I am for you that this has all worked out so well so far! Welcome to GT, GW, and the whole GH craze. And perhaps most importantly, welcome home, Irene!
  10. I used acupuncture for my Chancy's LS. It did help, especially with flare-ups where she'd be yelping in pain. I had also tried chiropractic treatments, but didn't feel that was effective the way acupuncture was.
  11. Ah, forgot to add, my Tipper just had a dental with three extractions a few months ago at age 11. He'd de-gloved his foot requiring major stitches. His teeth had already been in need of cleaning but I'd been putting it off out of nervousness about the anesthesia. But since he had to go under for the foot injury anyway, I had them go ahead and do his teeth. He was totally fine, you'd never have guessed he even had a dental, let alone extractions.
  12. If the teeth are going to pose an increasing problem down the line, better to remove them now while she's still "young." The longer you wait to deal with the bad teeth, the older she'll be and you'll worry even more about putting her under. And by that point, the bad teeth may start affecting her health in other more serious ways. The oldest hound I've had who underwent a dental with major extractions was my Chancy who was a senior bounce. Her last dental was at 12 years of age. Very scary, but thankfully she did fine.
  13. First off, go to any pharmacy and pick up wound wash saline, antibiotic spray or ointment, cotton gauze, and self-adhesive flexible bandaging (this is the same as vet-wrap, but available for people in pharmacies). All this stuff is in the first-aid section of any pharmacy. Wash the wound well with the spray saline, then pat dry with gauze, then apply antibiotic spray or ointment, then gently lay fresh cotton gauze over the wound and carefully wrap it up with the self-adhesive bandage. Use more than you think you'll need. Don't make it too tight as you don't want to cut off circulation, but tight enough to stay on. This will buy you time to get to a vet who can do stitches. I would not use superglue on a skin tear wound.
  14. Wow, what a scary set of events! Thank goodness you were able to help her.
  15. I had several small skin growths removed from Marla a few years ago with only a local anesthetic and a laser. The lasered off the growths, sent them off for biopsy, and stapled up the small holes left behind. I got to help hold Marla during this, so I know she was fine throughout.
  16. Sweet beautiful Flashy, I am so sorry your time came so fast.
  17. Outstanding news! The thread title had me worried...
  18. It's the devil's own roller coaster ride, and many of us have been on it before, so no need to apologize. Share all you need to. We're here for you. Love to your sweet baby-girlie.
