  1. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw your handsome boy's name here. Paddy was far too young. Jan, I am so sorry for your loss. He will be sorely missed.

  16. I tried dissolving sucralfate and syringing it down. It was a big mess and basically pointless. I know you're supposed to give it on an empty stomach, but I don't imagine what I'm going to suggest would be enough to mess things up. Try wrapping it in just enough greasy ground beef to cover it. Then shove it down. I have to give Chase at least 16 pills a day and he is rarely cooperative. So I just started wrapping them in ground beef because they slide down much easier. I also developed a little trick because he frequently tries to chomp on me while I'm trying to get the pills down. I stand on one side of him an slide his lip, for lack of a better term, down so it covers one side of his teeth. Usually it's the skin on the right side of his face that I slide down and over the right side of his mouth/teeth. When I do this he won't bite down as hard because he'll also be biting himself. I still wrestle with him three times a day, but it's a lot easier than it used to be.

  19. So sorry you got this diagnosis. Having struggled to get weight back on one of mine for different reasons, I wanted to suggest you add some high calorie supplements to her diet that may go down well. One is powdered goat's milk. You can pick up cans of it on Amazon and elsewhere. If her appetite is good, she should love this. Another is Dyne, a liquid high calorie supplement for dogs that smells a lot like cake batter. Again you can order it online, including from Amazon. You may also add vanilla Boost or Ensure to her diet. GNC also makes high calorie powders that may appeal to her as well. Good luck. I hope you have many good days ahead.
  20. Thanks for the responses. Closest certified neurologist is in Phoenix. That was my understanding from 2 years ago when our Grey Rufus had a stroke. As of my discussion with the vet yesterday there is a vet here in Las Vegas working on their certification but does not have it yet. So this is not an option. Buttercup is hugely improved since yesterday except she cannot see or see well. She came home this morning and is eating, drinking, peeing, pooping. As of late afternoon she is wobbly but mostly managing to get around on her own. We go back to the vet again in the morning.
