  1. I've been to some Mexican markets here, but all I see is the bleached tripe.
  2. I called Kodi's and they do have it so I'm going to try to get there after work. No go at Pet Club, but I'll try the other two if Kodi's is out (they said it was in stock!) Thanks!
  3. Petco and our local warehouse store, Goober Pet Direct, are all out of Solid Gold tripe. The lady at Goober said they can't find anyone to make it because it's so smelly! I think I'm going to order some dried stuff from Amazon. There is some canned available on Amazon, but only if you buy 12 cans and what if he doesn't like it? Just thought I'd let you guys know to stock up if you do have it close to you!
  4. Congratulations! Your husband sounds like a keeper too;)
  5. Thanks for the replies! Sounds like some dried liver a few times a week should be good. Unfortunately he's a brat and won't eat chicken hearts either! I am actually planning on buying some canned tripe today to try it out. I hear nose plugs will be in order!
  6. Oh my! So beautiful! Is he very playful?
  7. Poor Bennie! It sounds like that wound is a nasty one! Also, I feel for you guys having to make this your life for the next little while- twice daily trips to the vet is no fun!
  8. He looks so sweet! Love that snaggletooth! Thank you for rescuing him!
  9. We feed raw, but Jake doesn't like the taste (or texture?) of raw liver. He refuses to eat it. We end up cooking it for him, but as you can imagine it's messy and smells up the house! I bought some dried 100% beef liver the other day and he loves it. Will this do for his organ meat, or do we have to keep cooking the liver. I'll do it if he needs it, but man it stinks!
  10. I just wanted to add that I feel for you! Our foster was attacked on a walk and it was in no way as bad as this (no bites because thank god the dog had almost no teeth). However, it is still so scary to be in a situation where your beloved pet is being attacked and you find yourself almost helpless to stop it. I hope you can both get past the emotional scars as well as the physical ones!
  11. Oh no! I'm sure this is the least of your worries right now, but that owner needs to pay for both your care and Bernie's! Get well soon Bernie (and you)!
  12. Rest easy Coopernikis. I'm so happy that he was loved and well-cared for in his final months.
  13. We don't really add vegetables in because Jake won't eat them and we figure he'll get what he needs when we feed canned. Although I have been wanting to start him on a daily vitamin as well. I did want to add that you can get chicken thighs for a very good price at Costco (I'm sure Sam's club as well) or other discount stores. Sometimes the regular supermarket will have them on sale and you can stock up if you have the space. It hasn't been too much more expensive for us than feeding a mid-level kibble. Beef liver is also an inexpensive option.
  14. Hi! Your Magic is so pretty! I love the black body and white face!
  15. We feed mostly raw, with a majority of chicken thighs but also some beef liver, kidney, etc. If we're out of fresh food we feed canned food from Costco (his highness won't eat kibble). It seems to work for us!
  16. A grey puppy is pretty rare around here (US) because most of us get ex-racers from the tracks. I'd love to see photos if you get a chance! For toys, just my opinion, but if she's growing up with a cat I wouldn't worry too much about developing a prey drive. She will probably be able to know the difference between the off-limits cat and toys or small furries outside. Have fun with her!
  17. This just doesn't compute- my favorite part of coming back from vacation is getting to see Jake's happy face! It's good that he isn't with that family anymore if that's how they felt about him.
  18. This exactly! She is soooo pretty!
  19. I heard Bluffs Run is closing at the end of the year. I'm not sure how many dogs will move on to another track or just be adopted out, but I thought I'd let you know!
  20. I can't stop looking at these photos- I LOVE him and I LOVE that he has a home!
  21. Who could drop that guy off at a shelter? He looks like such a love! Thank you for providing him with a good home for as long as he needs it!
  22. This probably isn't what you want to hear, but I think you should let her upstairs with you. She has likely never slept alone and will probably feel much safer in the room with you. You don't have to let her on the bed, just in the room.
  23. Jake actually nipped my husband last time he was toweling him off, so it's air dry for us now! By the way- gorgeous hound!
  24. We have a cranky boy too. He is better with other greyhounds than other dogs in general (and DO NOT try to get up in his face!), but even other greyhounds he won't really play with. He's fine being an only dog, and we're fine with it for now. At some point we will probably want another (we tried with a foster, but she DID want to play with him and he wasn't having it), but for now we're good. Good luck with whatever you decide!
