  1. Ugh. That little girl is having it rough. I'm sorry!
  2. Post when you put it up? I've been thinking about trying it to screen Brees's view of the local cat colony. Really glad Fintan is ok.
  3. I voted other, because my dogs each act differently with children. If a small child is squealing and running, Brees thinks it's prey. We don't let her get near babies. Children standing still are scary. Joe loves kids like he loves puppies, so I think he regards them as dogs. In his eyes, the younger the better. Once a kid is about 8, it's human and not very interesting unless it has food. 8 is also the age where I start to think of kids as being people, so I think he's right on the money!
  4. Denise, I'm just seeing this. Poor Thyme, and poor you & Vinnie.
  5. I'm in love with Xanax for Joe's thunder problems. Since she's sensitive, I'd probably try it when she's ok first. The Thundershirt just annoys him -- he lays down when he sees it it so I can't put it on. If I can find it, you're welcome to give it a try. PM me if I should start digging around.
  6. You just never get a break with that crew! I hope the keys aren't in Mr. Miami.
  7. Yup. They forget pretty quickly when there's something yummy shoved in the biskie hole!
  8. Muzzles on both dogs. Whenever they'e together, whether you're in the room or not. Bringing Brees into the family was rough. It was at least a month before muzzles came off for any length of time, and only if one dog was with me on the sofa. If they got up, muzzles went back on. Probably 3 months before muzzles were off on a regular basis. Muzzles were on for car rides for over a year. We left them in the hotel in Dewey unmuzzled this year -- Brees has been with us for just under 2 years. Don't rush it. I think Joe is happier with her than he was before her, and I know he isn't as horribly bored as he was. They play in the yard, but don't share toys in the house. We still have space issues, but we all understand each other pretty well now.
  9. She's got jammies, a bed, and furniture privileges. You're doing it right!
  10. We like Trupanion, but I've been hearing good things about Healthy Paws. Trupanion's deductible (if you choose to have one) is per-incident, where Healthy Paws has a per-year deductible. Trupanion covers 90% of everything that isn't "preexisting." Exam fees aren't covered. Dentals aren't covered, except extractions due to periodontal disease (I think). Don't think alternative therapies are covered. They send checks quickly and keep you updated during claims processing. It's fairly straightforward once the dog is enrolled. You want to get insurance before things start to go wrong.
  11. Ahhhhh. "Bed Fail" is another important greyhound skill!
  12. "Roach mode" -- Joe's first day home. And see this thread about Monty. He was a professional.
  13. That exactly how it went with Joe. I did have to teach him not to get grumbly when I take stuff away, but it was a ten minute lesson. He's learned a lot, and so have we, but his general attitude has stayed the same. Brees, on the other hand, totally tricked us. She was passive and a little shy at the kennel, but walked into the house, saw the stuffies and didn't stop playing for about three hours. Then she fell over, exhausted. I had to play stuffy toss every morning for a loooooong time before I was "allowed" to drink coffee. She was shy with strangers for the first year, but has pretty much gotten over it and learned that people pet her. She's still nuts with toys, but she's turning into a real greyhound. She's learning to love sleep, and doesn't want to get up in the morning until she thinks some people food or a walk will be coming. Brees was a good dog when we got her, and she gets better every day.
  14. Begin?? I finished mine in Dewey. I loooove Secret Santa!!
  15. Mine love olive oil, and I've used it when hound sitting to get a nervous dog to eat. Shaky cheese (parmesan, romano, whatever) is also good.
  16. :f_pink Possum. Yoo DAWG!!! Yoo will be mist, mah fren.
  17. My girl gets mouthy when she loves what I'm doing and wants to play. Don't know if that's what happening with you, but teeth mean different things with different dogs in different circumstances.
  18. Aww!! It'd be hard to say no to that face!
