So do you apply a bandage over the EMT gel ? Actually, I have never heard of this gel. Do they tend to lick it or leave it alone ? Where do you get it ?

I love the ginger snap idea, and am going to Trader Joe's today as a matter of fact. It is hard to not feed her prior to going places, as we usually just go on the spur of the moment, not really planning too much. Nice to hear she will probably out grow it too, I sure hope so. We have several road trips planned, and she has to go with us. I don't want her to be miserable. Yesterday she was on my lap asleep when she threw up. The AC was on and she just raised her head and barfed. No warning. Poor thing.

I have no advice, just wishing you good luck with your new girl. Ours has been a wonderful addition to our home.

Jesse has been getting carsick since we got her, and threw up both days while traveling to bring her home. They said that puppies do that, but will usually outgrow it. I have Googled it, and it all says the same thing, she will probably out grow it, and it is because of their ears not being balanced quite yet. I suffered horribly with sickness as a child, and still have to keep my eyes on the road, so I have great sympathy for this girl. She gives zero warning, can be sound asleep, lift her head and bluckkkkkk. Then she sleeps again. Is there anything natural that I can try ? I don't want her to get to the point of nervousness for rides, as she will be traveling a lot. Dramamine is suggested as a last resort, but says it knocks her out for the day. I don't want that. I take Dramamine and ginger pills when flying or on fair type rides. Any ideas on what we might try ?

OH MY !!!! This sounds like something that might happen at my house. Jesse eats EVERYTHING, and we are trying to train her just to chew her toys. UGH, she is not a good listener. So far she enjoys rocks and bark from the back yard, and has tried to munch the couch. I bought insurance just because I knew we might have some issues.........lol. We watch her closely though, and she is crated when we can't she is a bundle of energy, and I can't wait until her shots are finished and we can walk her around the neighborhood.

OH WOW, glad I asked. I remember reading about them on here, people having issues with other dogs being on them, so wanted to check. Jesse has a harness and a 5' leash right now, as we are practicing her wearing it around the backyard. I was thinking about the flexi lead for places like the beach, etc...., but clearly they are not safe. I would never use one with Ruby as she can pull too hard. Thank you all

A couple years ago Ruby was on 40 mg a day for her separation anxiety. She is also afraid of some noises, the BBQ, fireworks, thunderstorms, and even the ice maker at times. She was on it about 6 months, and we didn't notice a thing. We have tried Ativan, Xanax, and several others, but nothing has helped her. I hope there is something to help your frightened little girl. It's so hard to watch.

I know that the Flexi lead leashes have a bad reputation, but I am not clear why ? Can someone share with me why they are not safe ? I see a lot of people using them for walks.

Thank you, she is so sweet and is doing really well with potty training. She has 4 white feet, a white goatee, white tip of her tail, a white streak on top of her head and a bit of white on her belly. She is so perfect and we are really enjoy her energy. She can be very rowdy, but listens when you tell her no. She now leaves Ruby alone, and she rolls around and plays and plays.......I couldn't have asked for a better bundle of fluff.

They sure do grow fast !! I am pretty sure she has doubled in size in a week.

This is the best picture that I can get of my silly new puff ball. We had named her Cleo, but after a week I decided that the name just didn't suit her. She is now named Jesse, after one of my favorite children's books Jesse Bear What Will You Wear. It fits her great and she already seems to know it. Things are going well with her, and Ruby seems to be a bit more at ease. Ruby did charge her in the yard Sunday, which scared us all to death, but luckily she was muzzled. She hasn't ran like that in a long time, so it was unexpected. Jesse yipped loudly and Ruby ran the other way. No more accidents in the house, and crate training is going well.

No Advice...........but I am excited that you got a new Grey !!!! Did I miss pictures somewhere ?

Ruby gets kibble twice a day, with a slight sprinkle of liver powder (Amazon) and some warm water. She has gotten pickier over the years and was losing weight, so we started the add ins. Prior to that she ate dry kibble. She also likes parmesan cheese as a change, or an egg on top.

I have not been able to get any good photos of her yet, as I am having trouble getting any that show her. She just looks like a blob in the photos, and being all black with black eyes, you can't make out her face. I will keep working on it. I posted a photo from the lady I got her from. She is just a bit bigger, but looks just the same so far. Thank you all for the advice. We are doing well and she is so sweet and funny. Love her and she is doing great with the crate training. No accidents in the house in several days, YAY. We are going to rename her, just need to narrow it down. Cleo is just not fitting her. Appreciate all of your great comments and help with her. We will make it through this puppy phase in one piece..........and with a happy pup.

She blocked you and not me ? Hopefully it was both of us. Sounds like she has a list.... I have never blocked anyone yet, but was going to block her. Sad it has to come to that however, I just want people to remember to be kind.

Good advice, thank you. She does know "sit" and knows her name. Today she has been coming when called, so not sure what the last 2 days were about. I have been using the crate more, so that gives both of us some quiet. I have kept our play sessions very active to wear her out. Seems she tuckers out fairly quickly. Today we did about 5 30 minute outside play trips, mainly chasing after some tennis balls. The exercise is good for me too. She is so sweet and funny. I love when she chases the ball, slides past it and flips over. She looks like a tumbleweed. We took a nap together on my bed today, and she was curled up under my chin. Just a few kinks to work out and all will be well. Ruby is even coming around and not paying much attention to her.

Thank you...this is the kind of info I need. So you are saying to feed her only out of the feeding toys ? Do I use several different kinds, or the same one each day ? I will look at the links you provided. I live near Salem, Oregon. I called several places on Monday, have registered her for a class that starts in October. I would love to take her to several different ones. Everyone, from the woman I got her from to the vet said to not put her down anywhere other than my backyard and home, as Parvo can live up to 2 years in the ground. The vet told me that lots of people are refusing to vaccinate right now. How would I know that she would be safe in the classes ? Are vaccine records required ? We have been taking her with us for walks with Ruby, but carrying her. We stop and meet everyone along the way, just not letting her meet the other dogs yet.

Thanks Sheila..........the linking together of leashes is a great idea. Will try that with her soon. At first she came every time we called, and was given praise and a treat, but last night and today, she will not come all the way to us most of the time, until she is pooped out. She is just being silly, as she is certainly not afraid of anything. It is just new to me, so I love hearing all of these great ideas.

GeorgeofNE - What do you mean, you don't mean to sound harsh ? You are ALWAYS harsh and down right mean in my book. Every time you post on any of my questions, you are very rude. I would appreciate it if you could just not respond to my posts, as it is always offensive. We love Ruby to death, and have enjoyed her immensely. How dare you say I don't. I have asked for help with her anxiety and her food pickiness, how does that say that I don't enjoy her ? I KNEW a puppy would be tough, and what I am asking for here is the guidance of people who have trained puppies, and can give me advice. She is tiring at times, as are all new babies, pets, etc., but that doesn't mean I don't love her, enjoy her, and want to train her properly. Lots and lots of people have 2 or more dogs, and just because Ruby is a bit confused by the pup, she will get over it and accept the new pup into our family. Ruby is getting a ton of love and attention, like always. You are so rude to everyone with your responses. It is not necessary. If you can't be nice, don't say anything at all. PackMomma - This is awesome, thank you. I feel a bit guilty for leaving her in her crate, but it seems like this is a great training tool. I appreciate your help and am implementing it today. I am playing with her until she flops over and tries to nap. About 30-45 minutes many times a day. She is enjoying chicken and Cheez Wiz when she responds, goes potty outdoors, etc. When I put her in her crate, I then take Ruby out for some play or a walk. Trying to make sure Ruby is getting plenty of attention, so she knows she is not replaced. We were set for a good 2 years of puppyhood, if not more, so I am not expecting instant results, just want to make sure I know what I am doing, hence asking you, the experts for your advice.
