  1. She sleeps in the room with us in her crate like always. We tried just putting a bed down, but she seemed more confused and wouldn't lay down. We do have a light in the attached bathroom. The vet wants us to try Gabapentin along with the Ultram, so I picked that up today. Praying this will help her. I actually have never looked at this. I wouldn't know where to start with it. Do you know of a good place for more information ? She sleeps about 2 hours longer with the Ultram, and we haven't seen any anxiety while on it. Her sleeping issues started prior to us putting her on it. I will keep it in mind though and mention it to my vet. She has some back end pain, and the vet thought it might help with the pain, therefore helping sleep. Thank you
  2. This looks interesting.......thank you, I will check into it.
  3. thank you. I will look into this. Our vet is doing some research also and will be calling me tomorrow.
  4. Ruby has been diagnosed with Sundowner's. We have talked about it for a year or so with the vet, and she said it is what is happening to her. She goes out to potty and just stares and forgets to potty, and this morning she looked at my husband with her leash, and didn't jump up like she ALWAYS has done. It is hard to watch her. She also will not sleep at night, so that means we aren't sleeping either. Our vet is going to get her past records from the vet that passed away, and then prescribe a medication for her to take at night to help her sleep. We have so many in the past for her anxiety, that I am a bit nervous to try anything. Poor girl. I know that she is nearing the end, but I am hoping we can find something to help her rest a bit better. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might help her ? She also has pretty bad arthritis, and is on Ultram at night for that. Ruby is 11 1/2 now, and she has started to not want to walk very far either. It's just so hard.
  5. I'm so sorry. Run free Sweet Finn
  6. I'm so sorry that you have lost both your girls
  7. I yell "ENOUGH" at Ruby and she stops. It has gotten much better as the years have passed, but it is loud !!!!
  8. I dont think so as we keep the house the same temp year round. She has a blanket in her crate, but does not like it on her, and she has told me NO to the jammies several times....I may give them another try if she doesn't settle down soon. Thank you
  9. The first 2 nights went great, with Ruby sleeping soundly. Last night, back to rattling her crate all night long. She has not vomited since starting the Pepcid, but I still wonder if she is in pain. Will give it a few more days and then check in with the vet. Makes me so sad..........
  10. She hasn't had any testing except for lab work. The vet didn't feel she should put her thru anything invasive, especially with her anxiety. We agree, and are hoping the Pepcid will help her. The Tramadol helped her sleep last night, so off to a good start. Good to know, thank you
  11. Ruby has not been feeling well for quite a while, and we took her in for labs a couple months ago, which were normal. The vet had no ideas, so we decided to find a new vet and took her in today. Our new vet is more familiar with Greyhounds, so we felt like she had a good exam. She has been vomiting occasionally right after eating, but it is just white mucous, not food. She has also been very restless during the night, and circles her crate all night long, which of course was driving us nuts. The vet thought that she may have an ulcer, and said that Greyhounds tend to get them often. I had not heard of that before. She also agreed that she has arthritis, and gave us Tramadol to try for her twice a day. We are to give her Pepcid each evening, and call her in a week to let her know how things are doing. She also thinks she has Sundowners Disease, which we have known for quite a while. Poor old girl. Hoping that she will get some relief from these 2 meds. So hard to watch her going downhill. Have any of you had Greys with ulcers ? She didn't want to scope her at her age, which we agree with.
  12. Our fawn Ruby looks exactly like that photo too. We brush her and still have to vacuum daily.
  13. DON !!!! I am just now seeing this. I am so very sorry that it was Rockets time to go. I know how much you and your wife loved that silly pup. He knew it too. Sending you big hugs of comfort.
  14. I'm so sorry............but extra treats given just for her today
  15. I am so very sorry. Godspeed Moonshine
  16. I use the childs version on my Poodle mix every time we go anywhere, and as long as I get it into her at least 2 hours prior, we have no issues. She vomits on every single trip. It's awful. We have a prescription for her too, but it is $4 a pill, so gets spendy quickly. It does make her a bit groggy, but it's better than the vomit all over me and the car.
  17. My Jesse is a horrible eater, always has been. The last couple of months, we have resorted to feeding her boiled chicken breast only, and a multivitamin. Now I know this isn't nutritionally sound, so I went to a specialty store and they asked me all kinds of questions and she said it sounded like she may be allergic to chicken.......of course, they only thing we were feeding her. I bought a turkey based new food for her, and she will not eat it. Going on 3 days now, and I bet she hasn't eaten 1/2 cup. She chews her feet, and her black coat is very dull. She also vomits a lot. All testing has been done, nothing is wrong. She has not vomited since changing, but I know this food does not make her happy. I even bought the canned version of the turkey, but she has never liked canned food, even as a puppy. I even tried feeding her raw, and she wanted nothing to do with that. Have any of you tried Victor ? I asked about what to do on a Facebook forum for feeding, and many said this food is wonderful. Several suggested the GF Lamb for her, which has no chicken, soy, wheat or corn. There are so many to choose from, my head is spinning. I need this girl to EAT. Open to any ideas, and yes, I know I have asked you this before, and I can assure you I have tried 99% of what was suggested. Thank You
