  1. So sorry ...we've been in this position more than once. You have to consider her quality of life.... How much pain is she in? Does she eat willingly? "Better a day too early, than a minute too late".
  2. So very sorry for the loss of Pal....it is just too much for one day. Run free, Pal.
  3. So sorry for the loss of your pretty Sarah. Remember the good times....
  4. So sorry Mimi had such a short time with you, but I bet it was the best time of her life. Remember all those good moments.....
  5. Nigel is also an 'attention barker' ....about 20 minutes before supper time. The only thing that 'works' is to totally ignore him. We have to not even look at him or acknowledge he is in the room....then he'll stop barking after a few seconds and walk away. If you give him the slightest glance or -- heaven forbid -- speak to him, he just gets louder. DH has the worst time with him because he usually tells Nigel to 'be quiet'. I have more will power, and Nigel rarely barks if I am home.
  6. He's home!!!! Let us know when you want a play date!!! Hope to see you at Planet Day!
  7. So very sorry for the loss of your Basil. Remember all the good times...... to you and your children
  8. So sorry for the loss of your Munchie. Remember the good times...
  9. So sorry for the loss of your pretty Lucky Girl. My Grandparents always had Dals...and the one that I remember most from my childhood was named 'Lucky'. I still have a small porcelaine Dalmation that was my Grandmothers.
  10. . No need for an Emergency visit, but I'd get it checked out.

So sorry you have lost your Ice. More condolences on the loss of your Dad.... May the memory of the good times bring a smile to your face. And thanks for taking in a senior hound
  16. I've used a small rechargable Dremmel for years. Started when we had Dobes. All their nails are black and a lot tougher than the Greys. Two hints: make sure the battery is fully charged make sure sandpaper is not too worn. My Dremmel is old and I find the battery doesn't hold the charge long wnough to do all three hounds. Time for a new one I guess!
  17. My sincere condolences to you, your DH and Fred, for the sudden loss of your very handsome Snappy. Remember the good times.....
  18. Yes...routine routine routine. This is what they're used to! I have the Patricia McConnell booklet "I'll be home Soon'. Let me know if you want to borrow it Nancy
  19. We do not feed slab bones / long weight-bearing bones.... Only knuckle bones, which are more cartilage/grizzle than bone. Chicken feet are also good for the teeth, but not as readily available. We've been feeding these to multiple large breed dogs for 30 years and have never had a broken / chipped tooth. Maybe we're just lucky.
  20. I tried some tablets that disolve in water a couple of years ago, but the dogs would not drink the water. A nice big knuckle bone, chewed twice a week for an hour, has given all my dogs greyt teeth.
  21. Oh...I am so very sorry your Nube had to leave you. You made so many wonderful memories with your handsome boy and one day I hope they will erase the tears and make you smile... Remember the good times....
  22. Hi Lilith!! Like others have said...Don't worry to much about it. The chances of him having severe anxiety is slim. Most cases you read about here on GT are not 'normal'. There are hundreds (thousands ?) of GT users and only a handful post about their SA issues. Our Nixon has never had SA. He's happy to sleep the day away all on his own. Ruby came to us 'labelled' with it but the owrst she did was whine and cry. No destructive bahavior at all. And now she's perfectly fine on her own. Nigel came to us as a bounce from a home who said he peed/pooed in his crate and barked all the time. He has never even tried to mark in the house and he only barks if he thinks it might be supper time. :dinner Not sure he's quite ready to be left totally alone for several hours, but he is fine for a short while. And truthfully .....we've never 'tested' him for long periods. One of the 'JOYS' of having multiples!! Don't be surprised if your new guy does not want or need his crate. Nixon only 'needed' his for a few days...poor guy would only eat if he was in it ...with the door closed. We didn't even set it up for Ruby or Nigel. On the other hand, our last Dobe loved the crate and it was well used for her entire life.
  23. Feel better soon Joe!! FYI My dogs are all blood donars... as were our GSD and Pointer before they got too old. Our blood bank never uses the jugular. They always use a vein in the forelimb.
