This. Your friend may well need someone to make the decision for her. You and the group are acting for the dog, who can't advocate for herself. I have always joked that adopting my first greyhound was harder than applying for college, but I am truly grateful for that fact. Having adopted from a new group, in a new state, I am thankful that despite knowing that they could speak to my old group, my vets, etc. they still did a home visit to meet me and check me out before allowing me to adopt. Easy for us does not always equate with best for the dog.

I had the sidewalk issue with Aquitaine for the last few years of her life when she would squat. I just lined my foot up alongside hers on the outside so her foot/leg didn't slide any further. All was fine. I know it is far easier said than done, but try not to think dark thoughts. As long as it isn't happening on rugs, that is a good thing. My wood floors and the sidewalk did sometimes give my girl trouble but I figure we all get stiffer with age.

I can't believe I missed this whole thread. Lots of hugs and good thoughts for Kasey. That webbed/sleeve thing looks really useful. I was thinking that maybe dance tights/leggings with one leg cut off and one shortened might work to keep the bandage in place while still allowing for full access for pees and poos on his walks. You might have to cut creatively on that center seam area.

I am so happy for all of you!!!! All that carrying is going to change your husband's "just a dog" thinking. They're going to really bond.
