  1. Thanks so much! I'm really obsessing about this.
  2. Wendy's first cleaning is coming up. Is there anything greyhound specific I need to be aware of?
  3. My son works for Parks & Recreation and can get us free mulch that is made from trees downed by hurricanes. In general then, is mulch a hound safe alternative to other ground cover? Doesn't tear up their feet when they run or dig?
  4. Hello and welcome from a fellow Miamian, FIU'er, AND FOG Dog adopter! We adopted our girl Wendy from FOG a little over one year ago (God bless you, Michelle! ) and have never for a second regretted our decision. I think that your pre-adoption anxiety is a good sign that you will be a responsible pet owner. I researched and debated for over a year before finally taking the plunge. Keep in touch and let us know how things go. P.S. I work at the University Park Campus.
  5. They are never really gone from us, are they. Happy birthday, sweet boy. You are loved.
  6. Being Hispanic myself, I can relate to this statement. Cesar is "familiar". I do read CM's books (don't watch the show) just as I have read Stilwell, Brannigan, Rugass (sp?), the Monks of New Skete etc. I take from each trainer what I and my dog need and what I feel is appropriate to the situation and temperament of the dog I am training. The more knowledge I have, the better my relationship will be with my hound and the happier we both will be.
  7. "Love never ends" He is with you still, and always will be. Just close your eyes and remember...he'll be right there beside you. Good dog, Jack.
  8. Hello neighbor! Greetings from Miami!
  9. Try Fortiflora. It is a probiotic made by Purina. You add a packet to their food once a day. You can buy it from your vet or cheaper at entirelypets.com.
  10. My vet had me use alcohol in our Ridgeback's ears to clean the pinna and flush the ear canal. Is alcohol not a good idea for greyhound ears?
  11. I am with you as you grieve. Dee's antics always made me laugh.
  12. Most assuredly, you are not alone. A sneeze, one day without zoomies, God forbid she skips a meal, and I am imagining the worst!
  13. Rest in peace, sweet girl.
  14. God speed to a beautiful, dignified Lady.
  15. Antibiotics can cause excessive drooling in dogs. The same thing happened to my son's APBT. If you go online and reserach the antibio. it will most likely list drooling as a side effect. Hope everything resolves itself soon.
  16. What causes corns in Greyhounds and can they be prevented?
  17. May your passing be a gentle one sweet girl. Sharing your grief.
  18. Wendy had a bald butt when we adopted her almost four months ago. It has grown back very nicely. I give her Grizzly Salmon Oil twice a day with her food. Her coat is very shiny now, but I couldn't swear that the oil had anything to do with that or her fur growing back. The bald spot on her neck from the kennel collar is taking longer to fill in, but I can see little baby hairs trying to grow back.
  19. Yup to the above. Wendy came home with hookworms and it took three rounds of Panacur to get rid of them. That and picking up each and every poop so as not to re-infect.
  20. My girl has an AVID chip. Is there anyway to check if her info. has been inputted correctly?
  21. I am so very sorry for your loss. My Ridgeback, Champion, went to the bridge almost 10 years ago. They are great dogs. So sorry.
