  1. I have considered arthritis, although Wendy is only 4 years old. She already gets Miss Claudia's Get Up & Go magic powders. So, corns can be painful even before they are visible?
  2. Do corns cause on-again, off-again pain? And, is the limping typically worse or become noticeable after the hound gets up from lying down for awhile? Wendy has bouts of lameness on her right rear leg. X-rays do show some calcification in the knee. She will be gimpy for two or three days, then be fine for months. Her lameness is more apparent when she gets up from lying down awhile. I'm wondering if we're not dealing with an incipient corn and not a joint issue. We're going to the vet on Feb. 6th and I want to have some basis to discuss this issue with her. I cannot detect anything on the pad, but my eyesight is supremely poor. Any thoughts, advice, input would be most appreciated.
  3. Put your shoes (and other belongings) where she can't get them. Baby-gate (or otherwise confine) her in a safe area.
  4. Each time your pup jumps on you, immediately turn your back, fold your arms across your chest and remain that way until all 4 paws are on the floor. Your boy will quickly get the idea that jumping doesn't pay.
  5. We were there! I missed Lyca's performance at the fastest dog comp, though. Funny girl!

    Stay warm.

  6. Histiocytoma? Have the vet check it out, just in case.
  7. I was thinking the same thing. Maybe he's lonely. Allowing Wendy into the bedroom with us at night helped with the early morning whining. She gets me up at about 6:30 a.m. for potty and breakfast and then we can all go back to bed.
  8. I love to sit quietly and observe Wendy's behaviors and listen to her vocalizations. She makes so many sounds! More than any dog I've ever had. She's very good at making herself understood with her voice and body language.
  9. Hi Shana and welcome to GreyTalk. This is a great place to learn about greys and share the experiences, joys and sorrows of being owned by this remarkable breed. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
  10. So very sorry. Feathers or fur...equally loved, sorely missed.
  11. Yeah, what's up with the Great Dane thing? Folks have asked me if Wendy, all 24", 55 lbs. of her, is a Dane.
  12. Welcome Molly, Arthur and feline fur-babies. You are a lovely family! I am owned by a 4 year old, red-brindle pixie-hound named Wendy and two cockatiels named Sundance and Beaker. My hubby and I have been married for 32 years and we are still madly in love with each other. So glad you have joined the GreyTalk family!
  13. I can unequivocably recommend the supplements sold by Miss Claudia at Greyhound Gang. My girl has a bad knee which caused her to limp. I have been adding all four supplements to her meals for about a month now with great results. Once the MSM & Vit. C are finished, she will continue on the Glucosamine/Chondroitin. http://www.greyhoundgang.org/store/index.php/cat_5 Wendy also gets Grizzly Salmon Oil twice a day with meals. You can purchase that from Greyhound Gang as well or the pet supply store of your choice. http://www.greyhoundgang.org/store/index.php/cat_25 Welcome to GreyTalk!
  14. I guess I'm just overprotective and want all the best for my girl. Also, I'm not convinced that dog food, whether kibble, canned or even raw provides all the nutrients that a dog needs.
  15. I would like to add a multivitamin to Wendy's daily diet but my head spins when I look online at all the different supplements. Also, I don't want to over do it as she already gets FortiFlora, Grizzly Salmon Oil and Get Up & Go Glucosamine/Chondroitin. I feed Wellness Core, RMB's and the occasional organ meat. So GT'ers what would you suggest? Or should I leave well enough alone?
  16. Farewell, sweet boy. So very sorry for you loss.
  17. Kiowa Sweet Trey must have made small girls! Your Lexi is even smaller than Wendy. Wendy weighed in at a whooping 47 lbs. when we adopted her. But you're right about these pixie girls...they are firecrackers!
  18. My Wendy is the smallest grey I've ever seen - 24" at the shoulder, 55 lbs. Many folks think she's a whippet!
  19. From Miami, with love, for Bailey and family.
  20. Welcome from Miami! The waiting is the hardest part of adoption. Get ready to quickly become enamored of this special breed. Feel free to ask questions. There's always someone happy to help.
  21. Wendy was prescribed Tramadol for a knee injury and the doc said to use it on an "as needed" basis. I'm guessing "cold turkey" wouldn't be a problem.
  22. I so enjoyed your fotos of Miss Gwen. She was a lovely, happy girl. Thank you for sharing.

Oh, sweet boy. Rest in the arms of the angels. Until we all meet again.
