  1. Lexie is 8 years old. We board her several times a year. She usually gets the booster every year. Is that the norm? Should she be getting it every 6 months? I don't want to overdo it if I don't have to. Thanks
  2. I can relate!!!! Lexie never drinks anywhere but at home. I usually have to add some broth or small pieces of marshmallows so she will at least drink a little bit.
  3. Welcome!!! Sounds like you hit the jackpot!!! Just show your mom a lot of patience, she will catch on . Oh and remind her, she must take lots of pictures of you.
  4. Lexie has had a corn for several years. She has had it hulled a few times but it always grows back. Someone mentioned to me to try to dremel it a tiny bit just so it is level. (so it doesn't feel like a stone for her when she walks). I dremel very carefully and only a very little bit just to make it flat and even if that makes sense. It seems to give her relief. I have done the duct tape thing but it takes so long and it still makes Lexie uncomfortable walking. There is a site on FB greyhounds with corns that is helpful too. I have tried the creams after the vet hulled. The cream seem to prevent it from growing back as fast but it still grew back.
  5. (((((((hugs))))))) Stunning resemblance to her brother. My heart goes out to you and her family.
  6. (((((((((((((((((((((((jan)))))))))))))))))))))))))))) I am deeply sorry for your loss
  7. I use a children's battery operated brushand let the spin brush do the work. My vet says lexie has good teeth and that I should continue whatever I am doing..lol. I use the Petz life gel a lot but I think what matters is that u brush daily. ( I brush a couple times a week)
  8. Yes, greyhounds are more accident prone with their thin skin. Another one of those things the adoption places don't tell you.
  9. The first 6 months we had Lexie she never was anxious in a car, then one day we had to take her to the ER to get her foot stitched. She has been anxious in a car ever since. Hopefully Taylor will be better in time. Do you think he could be sore somewhere that you're not aware of?
  10. I have to keep my crate or lexie would need to see a psychologist . She loves her crate. It is her safety area. Make the crate very comfy and be sure the dog gets plenty of exercise.
  11. Lexie tried several probiotics but the one that works the best is the vetri probiotic chews.
  12. Lexie usually only gets bad scrapes from running in the yard after squirrels ( we have a lot of mulch that I think kicks up) Twice she needed stitches, once from running in the winter in the ice and slid into an outside lamp. The other time was playing with a dog and the dog had on one of those metal collars and we think it open her skin up by her leg when lexie jumped over the dog. You can't really determine how often but as long as u keep the first aid on hand u will feel more prepared if something does occur.
  13. lots of wrap, septic powder to stop bleeding
