  1. So sorry to hear that Lisa. I hope you have many many good times left.
  2. What a sweet, precious face he has. I am so sorry.
  3. Jeez, I sure hope not. We did our heartworm on Saturday. Got the call tongight, we are good to go. We will start April 1. 4 on interceptor, 1 on heartgard unflavored.
  4. Post under training and behavior. My Chloe was very skittish, borderline spook. Now, she is one crazy biotch! My wild thing! Time and patience!
  5. We have done acupuncture on 3 of our dogs. 2 of them went consistantly and there was a definite improvement. I do not do chiro for the dogs as I am too afraid of manipulation. The dogs can't say when it hurts and it just scares me too much. Not much can go terribly wrong with acupunture. It usually takes between 3-5 weeks before there is any improvement and sometimes it can get worse before it gets better. Hope your baby feels better soon.
  6. Tank!!! He is a really big dog. His paws are as big as my fists!
  7. Our vets see a lot of greyhounds. When I was there, 2 were leaving, 2 were coming in but we win with the most!
  8. Well, now. I know you know how scared I was to change from pred to the budesonide. There were no or very few clinical trials especially with GH - it was all antedotal. Even Dr. Couto had no experience with it but wished me luck. My vet did her reading last year and said there was nothing new but if I wanted to try it, she was on board. He was just so flat and nothing like the Beau I once knew. It wasn't my dog. to have this insane puppy back - there are no words. He is not scavenging around looking for food and just laying there catatonic. Well, maybe that is a bit of an exaggeration, but he was pretty flat from being on the pred for so long. Very pleased.
  9. We brought in all 5- (still getting used to saying 5) Teddy for his annual. Chloe for her T4 Elsie for her nails and to make sure she has no more lumps or bumps. She has gotten testy with ME checking all of a sudden. Ollie's ears. And Beau Beau for his nails and weight check.... Teddy got just rabies and distemper- weight holding steady @ 80. Lean, ribs showing and very muscular. Beautiful boy. Chloe has gained 3 pounds and is up to 71. Doesn't look heavy but we won't let that get away from us. She tends to gain 2 or 3 in the winter especially because of her thyroid. Elsie- thank GOD- lump and bump free and she gained 5 pounds. Her racing weight was 63. She looks good. Beau- holding steady at 64. His racing weight was 63. He looks greyt. The budesonide was the best thing we could have done. He is soooooooooooooooooooooooo back. And The Ollister is up to 87 pounds and yet all ribs show. He has gained 17 pounds since we got him back in late November but he was 11 pounds BELOW racing weight when we got him. He looks greyt now. He could use another 3 but he could stay where he is too. He does have an ear infection, secondary to the scratching/inflammation. All nails done. Everyone had their heartworm. a 50 minute vet visit and everyone is happy, especially mommy!!! To give you all an idea of just how mellow and unfazed Ollie is about things, while the others were getting nails or blood done, he was laying out sleeping on the floor as oppossed to everyone else who was trying to hide so they did not have to be next. My 4 greyhounds and Ollie, the dog!
  10. Old friends, old friends sat on their parkbench like bookends A newspaper blowin' through the grass Falls on the round toes of the high shoes of the old friends Old friends, winter companions, the old men Lost in their overcoats, waiting for the sun The sounds of the city sifting through trees Settles like dust on the shoulders of the old friends Can you imagine us years from today, sharing a parkbench quietly How terribly strange to be seventy Old friends, memory brushes the same years, silently sharing the same fears
  11. I am so sorry. Please pass on my regards and spoil that boy to no end!
  12. Glad to hear no major concerns. As my vet said, just keep on eye on them. For us, someone on GT mentioned to give her a cookie. As soon as she starts chewing, they stop. We've had Chloe for almost 4 years and they started about a week into her thyrid meds. How is Arlie's T4? and T levels?
  13. Does it look like this? Chloe suffers from head tremors. Give Arlie a cookie when this happens. See if it stops. They are head tremors. ETA - when I showed this to my vet, she said , yup- those are head tremors. Keep an eye on it. Chloe does take soloxine for hypothryoid. They tend to happen in early spring, change of season and high stress.
  14. I look at her pictures and just can not believe what happened. And I have pictures all over. More than of my grand baby (which my DD notices!) I shake my head at the craziness of it all.

    Tanner

    I am so sorry.
  16. First and foremost, I am glad you are feeling more comfortable. Because when mommy is less stressed, Ms. Ekko is less stressed. Not to hijack but I wanted to share our experience with communicators. I had 3 animal communicators with my hounds. 3 different ones. Very, very well known and sworn by. The 1st one called- had never met us or the hounds and after about 10 minutes of hemming and hawing, she said that something was wrong and she could not connect. Could we try again at another time. He77 yeah, I said, as I had paid in full prior. Next time she called, she could have been talking about any greyhounds. Next time, it was another pretty well known communicator and I wanted to know how the pack was after we lost Polli. The woman could not place who Polli was. The dog walker? the poop picker uper... Next... you get the picture. We always went into this with the attitude of for entertainment pleasure only so we were not upset. But after 3 x with "well known" and "the best", we are better off communicating with our dogs ourselves! Don't want to hijack. I am very happy you are happy. As I said ... that will make for a happier Ekko!

    Goodbye Samantha

I am so sorry for the loss of your kitty. How lucky for you to have each other for so long. RIP sweet girl.
  18. Lewis, the boy full of adventure. We all miss you sweet boy. Take Polli by the paw and run through the fields together.
  19. I would use the communicator for entertainment purposes, but not for this. Sorry. Anway, if you are willing to do the work, you can fix this. Start from the beginning. Tether him to you when you can not be on top of him. Belly band him the second you walk back in the house with him. Give him a course of antibiotics- sometimes UTIs don't show but respond to antibiotics. Put a mattress pad on the bed- you want to get the smell out so he doesn't continue to mark. this is workable.
  20. this isn't over the counter but for UTIs clavomox is a greyt drug but VERY expensive. If you can have your doc call in 875mg of augemntin- that will do that trick for a co- pay!
  21. Carla- it is because of you, I had the opportunity to serve this spitfire, firecracker, love bug. I will never forget how the posting went... Racing dog- what you wrote was most touching. Thank you. it's been a tough couple of weeks leading up to the actual anniversary. But, once again we survive.
