    Goodbye Petey

Oh, no. I am so sorry.
  4. I have had some serious non eaters, especially after surgery. You will get a lot of suggestions. this is what worked for us. Tripe - THE REAL Stuff. You do need to order that online. Something for now- buy some unstuffed cow hooves. The bigger the better. Stuff high calorie canned food in the hooves. (you can usually get 1 can per 4 hooves) and freeze. It works. High calorie wet food- the EVOs ( I think a can has 501 calories) or BLUE wildnerness (that has 476 calories a can) He may not be able to tolerate kibble yet. When he does, try putting the kibble in a kong. Keeping you both in my prayers.
  5. I would hold off onthe acupunture. but that's just me.
  6. My Chloe, a bounce was deathly afraid of men. DH used to approach her from her level- on his knees- literally. He would sit outside of her crate with the door open and work on his laptop, it took about 3 months, but she is totally in love with him.
  7. Thinking about you all day! So happy for you!
  8. Looking forward to meeing Elliot! He is very handsome, congrats! How is Jackson doing with sharing the front office?
  9. Having had 2 very sick dogs not wanting to eat- you have to really think about ways of tricking them into eating. With Beau- it was using the same food in a kong and the frozen wet food in a hoofie. He saw that as a treat and would eat it. same food in a bowl- he wouldn't touch. When every ounce counted between life and death for him, you can be sure, whatever it took- I was going to do everything possible. With Polli- she loved to hear me sing "you are so beautiful to me". As crazy as that sounded, my little firecracker would eat to no end with that and the chicky song. So... unfortunately for me, I have had to be where you are now. And I am so happy she is eating something good for her!
  10. Winslow's mom does this for Winslow. She actually went out and bought the machine! I have her email if you want to get in touch with her. But first, I would discuss this with MBL to see what she says. I believe the place where I used to take Teddy in Westbury has the equipment.
  11. I've had 3 dogs get acupunture and all did well, however I do not do chiro as I don't think it's a good idea to manipulate the dog's neck/back since they can not tell you how they are feeling. Things CAN get worse with chiro, but not acupunture. The worse that can happen is... nothing. With chiro- if the necks is having problems, too much manipulation can hurt. That is IMHO, of course. There are several folks right here on GT that have hounds do well with chiro as well. Until the dog is feeling better, they should be on pain management and wean them off the pain meds once you are 5-6 weeks into the treatment. It usally takes several times for it to work and it can get worse before it gets better. Freddygirl (Nancy) just had a dog diagnosed with bulging disks. She has posted about her issues too. Here is a link to find a holistic vet in your area. http://www.holisticvetlist.com/ahvma_query_advanced.php
  12. The wet grass causes them to wipe out. Been there, done that. Keep her quiet for a day or 2 and unless it get's worse, just keep an eye on until Monday. Hope they are both ok.
  13. Congrats! She is very pretty. And, don't feel guilty- it IS a tribute to how much you loved Sarah. You did not keep the love you had for Sarah in limbo- you shared it with another deserving (and she really does sound deserving!!!) hound. I think it's wonderful! Enjoy her. ETA- and I DO remember you!
  14. Wecome home Tessa and congrats!!!! Now, where are those pictures!?
  15. She'll come around. Some dogs, especially females don't like being sniffed "there". I'd continue to bring her, but keep her a bit away so she can determine how close she wants to get.
  16. Hoping she and you have an easy night. You KNOW how much I love Bobbi (Lou )
  17. We treat the front, not the back.
  18. I wouldn't give them the meds without knowing what they got. Their bodies atr trying to get rid of whatever it is, you don't want to plug that up. If it's still like that tomorrow, I'd bring them in with a sample of the poop. Bring both- you do not have to seperate it- they will be able to do a sample of it that way. Hope they are back to normal quickly.
  19. That is a greyt story and very inspirational for new and exp. adopters! Greyt job!
  20. The negative about a basement apartment vs an apartment are the steps. If God forbid the dog is lame- there is no elevator to fall back on. Carrying a 70+ pound dog up and down the steps could be crippling. Just a thought. I realize that anything can happen anytime...
  21. Holding your swwet Goldie close in thoughts and prayers.
